Magnuson Hotels, the world’s largest independent hotel group, announced today a 36% reservation revenue increase 2009 year to date, driven in large part by expanded global distribution through online giants Sidestep & Kayak.

While total US hotel occupancy has fallen more than 10% 2009 YTD, Magnuson Hotels’ reservation revenue increases have been attributed to aggressive global and local market share strategies advanced by expanded price-comparison visibility in Kayak.com and SideStep.com, two of the largest travel search sites in the world.

Launched in 2005 by co-founders of Orbitz, Travelocity and Expedia, Kayak.com and Sidestep.com allow consumers to find the best deals in seconds with the ability to compare prices from more than 440 travel brands and websites. Magnuson Hotels’ Kayak & Sidestep presence has resulted in significant additional international distribution with representative sites in UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, India, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

The sites have additionally been named “Top 25 Budget-Centric Travel Websites,” by USA Today; “25 Sites We Can't Live Without” by TIME Magazine; “Best Search Engine” by the Associated Press; and “Best of the Web” by BusinessWeek, Forbes and US News & World Report.

“While key industry monitor Smith Travel Research has lowered its US forecast for the second half of 2009, Magnuson Hotels is already ahead of its original 30% end of year forecast,” stated Thomas R. Magnuson, CEO/Principal of Magnuson Hotels.
