SALT LAKE CITY / STSN has reached an agreement with Marriott International, Inc. MAR, to be the high-speed Internet provider for the following Marriott brands in North America: Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites; Renaissance Hotels and Resorts; and Courtyard by Marriott.

The STSN system is a powerful, secure, and convenient Internet solution available in hotel guestrooms, meeting rooms, and business centers. The system is designed to improve the quality and productivity of the traveling business professional's hotel stay.

"Marriott International is always looking for ways to enhance customer service through innovative technologies," said Carl Wilson, executive vice president and chief information officer of Marriott International, Inc. " After exhaustive testing, Marriott selected STSN for its combination of user-friendly design, speed and security."

STSN will begin installation of the high-speed Internet system in October at the following brands: Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites; Renaissance Hotels and Resorts; and Courtyard by Marriott. STSN plans to install its system in more than 42,000 Marriott guestrooms by January 2000. The system will also be offered in Marriott meeting rooms and business centers.

The STSN technology allows the hotel guest to connect to the Internet at speeds up to 50 times faster than conventional dial-up access. The high-speed connectivity eliminates lengthy downloads and allows the guest to use the Internet as a resource for work and entertainment at the hotel. The system is a simple plug-and-play solution where guests can easily connect to the Internet using an Ethernet or USB cable. STSN utilizes the hotel's existing single phone line to bring high-speed Internet to every room in any hotel. STSN also combines voice and data on the same line – so guests can talk on the phone while they surf the net.

"STSN and Marriott International are a great match because of the importance of consistency to both companies," said William West, president of STSN. "With the STSN product, hotel guests can count on having high-speed Internet access in every room whenever they choose to stay at a Marriott property."

The high-speed Internet service includes a customized Web site that is free to hotel guests. The Web pages feature information on hotel amenities, such as room service, business services, in-house dining facilities and various services offered through the hotel. The guest can also find information on local area attractions, such as dining, entertainment, shopping and transportation, enabling a hotel guest to spend less time looking for information and more time enjoying their stay.
