Due to the hurricane conditions at Amelia Island Plantation the Classic scheduled for September 16-19 has been postponed. The proceeds of the Classic benefits the American Hotel Foundation and its scholarship and research funding programs. The event will be rescheduled for early December. About the American Hotel Foundation

The American Hotel Foundation (AHF) is one of two related organizations of the American Hotel & Motel Association (AH&MA), (the other is the Educational Institute of the AH&MA (EI).

The Foundation is located within the headquarters of the AH&MA in Washington, D.C. Douglas Viehland, CAE, serves as president; Michelle Poinelli is the manager of foundation programs, Christine Jordan serves as manager of special events, Lynette Braxton serves as program coordinator/fund development, and Crystal Hammond serves as special events coordinator/assistant to the president.

AHF was founded by a group of hoteliers in 1953. Our mission is to provide financial support that enhances the stability, prosperity, and growth of the lodging industry through educational and research programs. In 1998, AHF awarded approximately $338,000 in scholarships and $238,000 in funded research projects. In 1999, scholarship funding is budgeted at over $370,500 and research funding will exceed $360,000.
