Six Senses is delighted to announce the opening of a Six Senses Spa at The Alpina Gstaad, in Saanenland, at the heart of Switzerland's Bernese Alps. The Six Senses Spa infuses the alpine spirit of the surrounding environment with an eastern flair, creating a secluded, warm and natural ambience. In keeping with the Six Senses philosophy, natural materials and design features have been used to evoke a sense of place - from curved walls, water features and a vertical garden, to the heated outdoor pool.

The Six Senses Spas' philosophy of balancing all the senses is creatively represented in the spa's offering. The menu features nurturing and soothing treatments as well as results-oriented therapies and personalised programmes to encourage guests to view their spa experience as an integral part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

"Six Senses is proud to welcome Six Senses Spa at The Alpina Gstaad to our growing collection of spas in Europe", commented Bernhard Bohnenberger, President, Six Senses Hotels, Resorts & Spas. "We chose to partner with Six Senses because we share the same philosophy and vision: to offer our very discerning clientele a new kind of spa experience that is truly holistic, deeply personalised and providing a life-changing rejuvenation."

Unique to the Six Senses Spa at The Alpina Gstaad

Special attention has been given to Ayurveda, an ancient Indian system of natural herbal medicine designed to help people live longer, healthier and more fulfilling lives. It works on the principle of balancing one's vital energies or doshas, through an individually tailored programme of treatments, diet and exercise.

Guests meet the spa's Ayurvedic Doctor, in a private consultation during which he determines their body and mind constitution, creates a personalised schedule of treatments, and provides guidance and recommendations. Bespoke Ayurvedic dietary recommendations are also offered to ensure that guests can continue their wellness journey at home.

Another unique twist is the combination of the hugely beneficial rituals of Hammam with specialist treatments to assist guests with stress relief or cleansing.

Therapeutic Treatments

The notion of the Far East has been captured in a series of Asian therapies including Thai Massage, Tuina, Shiatsu, Traditional Tibetan Massage and Foot Acupressure. In addition, a selection of specialist therapies such as Reiki, Moxibustion and Chakra Balancing are on offer. Some of these therapeutic treatments have been used for centuries to relieve various symptoms and are deeply calming and relaxing.

Going beyond pampering

The extensive spa menu is complemented by a variety of group and private classes including Yoga, Qi Gong, Aqua Chi and Tai Chi.

Personal training sessions are available at the spa's state-of-the-art fitness centre. Here, guests will find the latest cardiovascular TechnoGym, strength and weight training equipment, including the innovative Kinesis apparatus.
