Pentahotel Hong Kong, Kowloon will open 5 August 2013 as the first international brand hotel in the fast-emerging Kai Tak area of Kowloon East. Just like pentahotels in Europe, the neighbourhood lifestyle pentahotel will be designed as a gathering spot for the local community and a home base for independent-minded travellers keen to discover the colourful surrounding neighbourhoods.
The 32-storey pentahotel Hong Kong, Kowloon, a few minutes’ walk from the Diamond Hill MTR station, will feature 695 practical, New York loft-style inspired guestrooms. The hotel’s design will blend style with simplicity and comfort with convenience. Its contemporary rustic décor will be complemented by whimsical cultural references, injecting Hong Kong-style “pentafun” around every corner.
Pentahotel commissioned funky, iconic local design brand G.O.D. to produce the playful, graphic in-room heat-sensitive mugs for guests. G.O.D.’s innovative, Hong Kong-inspired accessories will also be available in a “maxibar” vending machine. In support of up-and-coming Hong Kong designers, pentapeople on the frontline will sport uniforms designed by local sleek-and-chic fashion label “4A Like Black.”
Pentalounge, the heart and soul of the pentahotel experience and the first of its kind among Hong Kong hotels, will seamlessly combine a lobby, reception area, bar and café into a single venue. It will serve as a lively gathering place with 230 seats anchored by eatstreet@pentalounge, which will offer favourite local Hong Kong dishes and a variety of comfort foods and all-day drinks. The gourmet selection will include desserts and cakes by home-grown celebrity chef Tony Wong. Guests and neighbourhood residents will gather to play foosball or a game of Wii or shoot pool in the two Games Rooms, surf the web at the Internet corners or browse the playlist at the pentafun Music Stations. Another unique feature will be the pizzabar next to the hotel’s main entrance, offering authentic Italian-style pizza and on-the-go customers will enjoy a selection of takeaway pizzas skilfully tossed by the pentachef.
Modern technology facilities and services for digital nomads and tech-savvy travellers will include free hotel-wide WiFi, in-room smartphone docking, smartphone charging service and digital check-in and check-out.
In addition to the Games Rooms in pentalounge, pentahotel Hong Kong, Kowloon will feature an outdoor pool and gym. There will be five meeting rooms smartly equipped with advanced audio visual equipment. The two unconventional meeting breakout areas, known as “Timeout Zones,” will feature foosball tables and popcorn machines.
