The playful and experiential Moxy Hotels will debut its first property in Chicago, IL—and the first in the Midwest—in Spring 2018, boldly reinventing the lifestyle hotel experience in the Windy City. White Lodging will operate the Moxy Chicago Downtown, which it is developing in the River North area in partnership with Friedman Properties.
Moxy Chicago Downtown will be thoughtfully designed with the target audience in mind – engaging, smart and free-spirited. Opening in the city known for its location on Lake Michigan, foodie mentality and epic nightlife, Moxy Chicago Downtown will welcome guests with its locally inspired contemporary design, industrial chic style and buzzing social scene. Its 156 bedrooms will be comfortable, and tech savvy with plush platform beds, peg walls instead of closets for flexibility, motion sensor lighting, 49-inch LED TVs, abundant power and USB outlets, along with furiously fast and free Wi-Fi for connectivity.
Since today's traveler spends more time in public spaces to work and play, Moxy's communal public spaces are the energy hubs in all of the brand's hotels around the globe, and Moxy Chicago Downtown is no exception. From pick-up bites in the lobby and game tables in the public space, to an interactive digital Guestbook streaming the #atthemoxy Instagram feed, Moxy Chicago Downtown is all about being inclusive, connected and progressive. The hotel's lively lobby and state-of-the-art gym will ensure guests will want to extend their stay.
The bar in the lobby will be the hub of the hotel, serving as the "front desk" where guests check in, receive their room key and sip a complimentary 'Got Moxy' signature cocktail. The lobby bar will also be the place guests fill up on spirits, food, and fun. It will be an urban coffeehouse by day featuring locally sourced branded premium coffee. By night, it will be a game and entertainment space with a fully stocked craft cocktail bar emphasizing tequila, whiskey and beer. Chicago locals and hotel guests will enjoy a menu of simple, crave-able cocktails at the lobby bar as well as portable, handheld food items like tacos, poké bowls and dips. In addition, guests can order from the food truck-inspired inside-outside counter and lounge in the lobby, while pedestrians walking by the building can stop at the inside-outside walk up window and order a quick bite to go.
