Aparium Hotel Group today announces the October 2018 opening of the Crossroads Hotel. Located in the former bottling and distribution plant for the Pabst Brewing Company and the adjacent former offices of Tom Pendergast, the hotel will rise four stories at the center of the burgeoning Crossroads Arts District. The 131-key hotel will also bring multiple food & beverage concepts including Lazia, a modern Italian Steakhouse; Percheron, an energetic indoor/outdoor rooftop beer garden, and XR, an all-day casual eatery and bar.
Found at the intersection of Center Street and West 21st Street in the Crossroads Arts District, the hotel will be at home amongst one of the city's most lively arts scenes. Its location in the Crossroads Arts District also situates the hotel in close proximity to Downtown Kansas City and the Power and Light District, as well as Union Station, a bustling attraction and transportation hub.
In the spirit of its neighborhood, the Crossroads Hotel will include a 2,000 square foot public gallery and studio space for an ongoing artist-in-residence program. The program draws from and will give life back to the surrounding arts district through exhibitions, artist commissions, performances, and unexpected artist-driven experiences that will enliven the hotel. The program is curated by Kansas City's el dorado inc., also the hotel's architecture firm, and will focus on local artists and artists with historic ties to Kansas City. This ongoing engagement with artists, in Kansas City's Crossroads Arts District, will intensify the cultural and social impact of the hotel.
Designed in partnership with award-winning Simeone Deary Design Group, the hotel's design maintains the integrity of the original buildings with industrial accents seen throughout the public spaces and guest rooms. Amongst the hotel's 131 guest rooms will also be unique hospitality suites appointed with bars, billiards and meeting areas. Crossroads Hotel will tap local artists, designers and purveyors to showcase their talent throughout the hotel and restaurants, including one-of-a-kind in-room wallpaper designed by local tattoo artist Mikey Wheeler, ceramic lighting hand-painted by local artist Melanie Sherman, select handcrafted pieces from Castilleja Furniture, and more. Local food and beverage collaborators such as Messenger Coffee and distillery J. Rieger & Co. will be found at the hotel's restaurant and bar outlets and featured on in-room private bar menus.
Crossroads Hotel's three food and beverage concepts will be distinctively different from one another. Located within the former Pendergast Building in the hotel's ground floor, the 78-seat restaurant, Lazia, will be a modern take on old world Italian. The ambitious dinner-only restaurant will have a lively atmosphere with an unexpected and transformative music playlist and a robust wine program, as well as a 12-seat private dining room. XR will be the hotel's all-day dining option, located just off the lobby entry, and will offer a menu of artisan pizzas and small plates from the display wood-burning oven. The hotel's rooftop, Percheron, will be a lively indoor/outdoor beer garden featuring craft and frozen cocktails, as well as a menu of refreshing craft beers, served alongside light bites and activities perfectly suited for large groups.
In addition to three food & beverage outlets, the hotel will house over 9,000 square feet of event space encompassing a 4,000-square-foot atrium lobby and pre-function space, a 3,000-square-foot ballroom, multiple boardrooms, and more.
Crossroads Hotel's guest and amenities services will include luxurious linens and SERTA mattresses, complimentary Wi-Fi access, a 24-hour business center kiosk, thoughtful pet amenities, and 24-hour access to the fitness center.
