Tivoli Hotels & Resorts has announced the launch of Souq Al Wakra Hotel Qatar, a 101-key property nestled amongst a newly established souq in the Al Wakra seaside district of Doha.
Blending artful Qatari tradition with contemporary leisure, the hotel comprises two former heritage houses with their original character kept largely intact, the architecture mirroring a Qatari house or fortress. Each guestroom and suite features thatched roofs incorporating local basket-weaving elements, whilst a palette of natural blue and beige mirrors the surrounding sea and sand.
Elsewhere, open walkways lead to courtyards where multiple guestrooms can be blocked off to create private rooms for groups, channelling the layouts of historic majlis - the traditional gathering places of Arabic culture. The offer is enhanced by five restaurants and lounges including Jarnen - a Mediterranean, all-day venue with seafood sourced fresh from the local market - and Markhan, an Arabic fusion lounge overlooking the gulf.
Elsewhere, and complementing the waterfront location, Tivoli Spa features separate treatment rooms for men and women and amenities including a multifunctional gym in each building.
Situated in close proximity to Doha's Hamad International Airport, the hotel further contains multipurpose meeting and boardroom venues for business guests, whilst for more tourism oriented visitors the surrounding area of Al Wakra is quickly establishing itself as a rising leisure destination, having benefitted from a recent injection of funding and investment, both establishing new features as well as preserving historic elements.
