Great Lakes Management Group is proud to announce the eagerly awaited opening of the Hotel Indigo® Madison Downtown, located inside the historic Mautz Paint Company building at 901 East Washington Avenue in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. Originally opened as the Klueter & Co. Grocery Warehouse in 1915, the property changed ownership several times until the Mautz Paint Company took ownership in the 1970s. The Hotel Indigo Madison Downtown pays tribute to Mautz Paint Company's past while also incorporating visually striking modern elements. The hotel brings 144 well-appointed rooms and suites, as well as tech-forward amenities catering to leisure and business travelers alike.
Inspired by the Mautz Paint Company and the nearly 100-year old structure in which the hotel is located, Hotel Indigo Madison Downtown uses its design tomemorialize the era when this beautiful historic building was constructed. Restoring the original architecture while blending the new addition was handled by architecture firms of Potter Lawson and Gary Brink & Associates of Madison. They developed a new 5-story tower design to synchronize seamlessly with building's timeless brick prairie-style architecture. Gary Brink & Associates, the hotel's interior design firm, also incorporated a colorful theme with stylish interior materials blending classic and modern designs.
"We are thrilled to have had the chance to work closely with the Hotel Indigo Madison Downtown hotel ownership team to concept and design the interiors," said Karen Davis, Director of Interior Design. "The beautiful nature of this iconic building, its 1915 original style and its location in the East Washington corridor of downtown Madison, provided motivation for our story and design. From manufacturing inspired lighting, reclaimed wood in the lobby to industrial interiors to art murals located on each floor paying tribute to the influencers throughout the years of Madison's history, our new-design on these elements allowed us to be inspired by our rich history while remaining grounded to the present-day."
Hotel Indigo Madison Downtown's design aesthetic is further elevated through the custom art and unique prints helping envision not only the building's history but also Madison's, while telling a story of richness, intrigue, and hard-work.
