Among the streets and canals of the Dorsoduro neighbourhood lies the NH Venezia Rio Novo, a 4-star NH Hotel Group establishment where the history of film-making melds with that of Venice to create a unique experience. The hotel is located in an historical building built between 1957 and 1960, inspired by famous architects such as Angelo Scattolin, Luigi Vietti, Pier Luigi Nervi and Cesare Pea, who designed the façade. It is an example of the rationalist architecture movement in Italy, characterised by clean lines and geometric shapes. Its design was conceptually framed by the world of cinema and its deep connection with the city.
From the common areas to the bedrooms, the NH Venezia Rio Novo is characterised by furnishings and design features that evoke the film-making realm: cinematographic props, photographs and iconic films from Italy's archives. That bond is clear from as soon as one enters the reception where a small specialised library replete with autographed journals and books welcomes the hotel's guests. That's not all. Photographs of famous directors and actors decorate the various common areas, offering up a unique way of discovering Venice through the movies.
Its 144 rooms, including five junior suites and another 53 rooms with views over the bell towers and Sestiere canal in the Dorsoduro neighbourhood, provide a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere thanks to
attention to detail coupled with warm hues (white, beige and blue, the latter thanks to the Electa armchairs by Calligaris), creating a sense of well-being.
One of the hotel's most endearing features is its small but enchanting garden. A genuine surprise and a rarity in a city like Venice: open to the public, this garden beside the hotel entrance is an ideal place for getting to know the city from a fresh perspective, enjoy a pre-meal drink or even - in the near future - watch a film outdoors!
The NH Venezia Rio Novo also offers the possibility of organising private or business events, thanks to its meetings proposition: the four meeting areas - named Visconti, Rossellini, De Sica and Fellini - lend themselves perfectly to personalisation and scaling up or down to suit each customer's needs. Located close to the restaurant and bar, there is scope for expanding beyond their 40 square metres to accommodate up to 130 people. Lastly, for those with energy left to exercise after a day wandering the city's streets and canals, there is a small fitness area equipped with Technogym machines, including a rowing machine. Hotel guests can access the gym for free between 7am and 9pm.
