Graduate Columbus

Graduate Hotels is excited to announce that Graduate Columbus officially opens its doors on September 6th, 2019. The 171-room hotel is located in the heart of Columbus' dynamic Short North Arts District and a short trip to The Ohio State University campus and downtown Columbus. The hotel will feature Poindexter, the hotel's all-day café, and beloved burger-joint Shake Shack.

Created for travelers who seek memory-making journeys, Graduate Hotels is a thoughtfully crafted collection of hotels that reside in dynamic university-anchored cities across the country. Each property celebrates and commemorates the optimistic energy of its community, while offering an extended retreat to places that often play host to the best days of our lives.

Design throughout the hotel celebrates the undeniable pride that Ohioans have for the state and The Ohio State University with collegiate plaids, spirited colors and nods to historic figures and trailblazing alums. Inspired by the fact that eight U.S. commanders in chief were born in Ohio, the hotel lobby includes a variety of presidential details. The front desk resembles the 19-century Resolute desk used in the White House Oval Office. Behind the desk, a mural depicts national landmark Mt. Rushmore reimagined with iconic Ohio athletes: Jack Nicklaus, Jesse Owens, Katie Smith and Archie Griffin. A statement lighting installation made from silver instruments is a nod to Ohio State's renowned marching band.

Guest room decor contrasts bold details with warm,residential design elements. Red plaid walls and school colors evoke an immediate sense of nostalgia. Honoring Ohio greats throughout, design includes references to Ohio senator and astronaut John Glenn as well as Olympic gold medalist and Ohio State alumJesse Owens. A statement-making gold medallion hangs over guest beds in homage to Owens' Congressional Gold Medal, while pillows imprinted with the year "1936" are a tribute to the four gold medals he won at the 1936 Olympic Games. Beds with leather headboards and white comforters are topped with blankets resembling the Ohio state flag, while mirrored window frames give the cozy rooms a sense of depth.

Graduate Columbus will be home to two unique food and beverage offerings: Poindexter and Shake Shack. Positioned within the hotel's lobby is Poindexter, Graduate Hotels' signature cafe concept, which will serve coffee roasted from acclaimed Coffee Manufactory. A wall covered in No. 2 pencils sets the scene for this on-point hangout, while a ceiling mural depicts beloved Columbus people, places and things. Enjoy breakfast sandwiches and local pastries in the morning and soups and additional grab-and-go specials throughout the day.

Shake Shack, the critically acclaimed, modern day "roadside" burger stand, will be situated on the ground floor of Graduate Columbus. In addition to their 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches and crispy crinkle cut fries, the Short North Shack location will serve location-specific frozen custard concretes made in collaboration with local bakery Fox in the Snow Cafe. The Shack will also include an outdoor seating area. Shake Shack will be open 11AM -10PM, Sunday through Thursday; and 11AM -11PM, Friday and Saturday.
