Carté® Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, a first-of-its-kind lifestyle hotel, today unveiled its design inspiration and the details behind the 246-room property. Opened this week in San Diego's Little Italy neighborhood, the hotel was designed by The Manchette Studio, a full-service interior design firm specializing in hospitality design. The property celebrates the community's nautical heritage and architecture through its thoughtfully selected design elements and materials and features modern luxuries and amenities, tailored to the curious traveler.
Carté Hotel illustrates the stories that await guests with its subtle, yet intentional features, and offers them a passport to Little Italy to create their custom journey during their stay. Unique design touchpoints can be found throughout both the property's exterior and interior spaces. In the lobby, abstract metal screens resembling fishing nets are woven throughout the first level, paying homage to Little Italy's heritage as a fishing village. The tribute to the neighborhood's history is continued throughout the hotel, which relies on blue tones and natural wood elements to serve as a nod to San Diego's various historic piers, including Pacific Beach's Crystal Pier and La Jolla's Scripps Pier. The guest rooms reflect the connection to the historic nautical roots of Little Italy's residents with upscale and subtle nautical themes, including abstract blue watercolor headwall vinyl, custom woods and metals, as well as unique and modern lighting fixtures.
Reflective of San Diego's famed and beloved sunsets, copper is a featured accent throughout the property, most notably on the exterior of the hotel, where it aesthetically contrasts with the ocean-inspired blue and green glass panels. The distinct material is also incorporated on the rooftop of Carté, which is home to Above Ash Social lounge and bar. The rooftop features sand-colored tiles and is completed by dramatic fire pits for an inviting communal experience where guests can immerse themselves in a modern twist to the local San Diego lifestyle, while taking in the stunning views over the San Diego Bay.
Little Italy has long been synonymous with authentic Italian wine culture, a relationship that is not overlooked in the hotel's specialty spirit tasting room, Fonte di Vino. The full-service wine bar is thoughtfully designed to convey a modern impression with high-end tasting services, while encompassing true Italian character with rustic wood elements, as if it has been around for ages. Fonti De Vino also gives a nod to its neighborhood with a wide selection of wines hailing from Italy, as well as including local and regional wines from Southern California and Northern Mexico.
Located steps away from the city's best restaurants, the Embarcadero waterfront and the downtown business district, the 16-floor, 246-guestroom LEED Silver Certified hotel brings unforgettable experiences, a sense of discovery and a myriad of elevated amenities and culinary offerings to the community. The hotel features spacious premium guestrooms and suites, offering the latest technologies for the discerning traveler, including fiber internet and 55" 4K TVs with smartphone streaming capabilities, in addition to refrigerators and luxury bedding. Carté also offers more than 8,500 square feet of event space, with seven on-site private event options, catering to small to mid-sized corporate groups, weddings and other social events. The hotel is also home to Fit Athletic Club, providing access for guests to enjoy the 28,000-square-foot upscale, full-service fitness club.
