Karisma's first Margaritaville Island Reserve property, Margaritaville Island Reserve by Karisma Riviera Cancun, will open in March 2020. Reservations for the new resort, which will mark Margaritaville's first all-inclusive and its first resort in Mexico, are now open.
The product of a complete conversion of the Azul Beach Resort Riviera Maya by Karisma, the new Margaritaville resort will be set beachfront, and it will have 148 guestrooms and suites. In keeping with the brand's aesthetic, which aims to appeal to luxury travelers seeking a casual, fun experience, guests will be presented with flip-flops and welcome drinks upon arrival. Other resort amenities will include four pools, four restaurants, six specialty bars and an 8,000-square-foot St. Somewhere Spa, by Karisma.
Accommodations will span nine styles reflecting an upscale coastal design, including oceanfront and swim-up options with direct access to the main swimming pools. All accommodations open to a balcony with Adirondack chairs or daybeds, overlooking either the pools, gardens or Caribbean Sea. Guestrooms and suites will also have a relaxed color palette inspired by the sea, sand and sky, as well as custom maritime-inspired furnishings and Mexican touches, along with amenities such as smart TVs and Wi-Fi.
Notably, every room will have a complimentary and customizable in-room bar experience. Guests will be able to enjoy their favorite drinks, complete with all the necessary glassware and tools. Options will include coffee, mimosas, beer and frozen Margaritas.
Food and beverage options will include Frank & Lola's, serving homemade Italian cuisine paired with a Wine Spectator-awarded wine list, and Rita's Taco House, serving traditional Mexican fare with ocean views. Beach House will be an open-air, Caribbean-inspired venue, while Joe Merchant's Coffee & Provisions will serve freshly brewed Mexican coffee and a range of beverage and snack offerings from early in the morning to late at night. In terms of bars, Stranded on a Sand Bar Swim-Up Bar will have hanging beds, while Blended will allow guests to whip up their favorite fresh fruit on a bike blender. Margaritaville's signature concepts, the License to Chill Bar and the Five o'Clock Somewhere Bar, will also make an appearance.
Additionally, guests will be able to enjoy a daily "foodie hour" with surprise dishes with a gourmet spin. Tropical drinks will also be delivered to the beach and pool areas in fun and creative ways.
A team of Island Ambassadors will offer personalized concierge service to guests. They will be on-call to answer questions and take requests.
The St. Somewhere Spa, by Karisma will have a Couples Suite and Bridal Suite, a hydrotherapy area and a full-service beauty salon. Facilities will also include an herbal steam room, dry sauna and chromotherapy shower. Offerings will focus on health and wellness, as well as fun, margarita-inspired treatments.
The property will also host live daily entertainment, as well as activities ranging from Latin dance and beach soccer to weekly events such as a mariachi fiesta or blackjack tournaments.
For younger guests, the resort will have a Parakeets Kid's Club with supervised daily activities for children four to 12 years old, including cooking classes, mad lab experiments, piñata making, pajama parties and movie nights.
To celebrate the opening, Karisma is offering introductory rates at up to 60 percent off. These rates will be available throughout the month of November.
Announced this past summer, Margaritaville Island Reserve by Karisma is a new "barefoot luxury" brand developed as a partnership between Karisma and the Jimmy Buffet-inspired lifestyle brand. In addition to the Cancun property, a second resort is planned for the Riviera Maya, as well as resorts in Jamaica and Cap Cana.
