The Hotel Sorella changed its name to The Moran CityCentre in a nod to Jim Moran, the founder of Midway, the Houston-based developer and owner of the 266-room hotel. The 12-story hotel opened 10 years ago as a central part of Midway's CityCentre mixed-use development near Beltway 8 and Interstate 10 in west Houston.

Guest rooms, including 22 penthouse-level suites, have floor-to-ceiling windows and wood floors. Amenities include Fireside Lounge (formerly Monnalisa), Radio Milano restaurant and Milano Bar, and a 15,000-square-foot meeting and events facility.

HEI Hotels & Resorts, which recently took over management of the hotel, plans updates to the property in 2020. The hotel is next to shops, restaurants and entertainment at the center of the 47-acre CityCentre.

Norwalk, Conn.-based HEI also manages DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Houston Intercontinental Airport, Aloft Houston Hotel by the Galleria and Sheraton North Houston at George Bush Intercontinental in the local market.

The Moran CityCentre was previously managed by Valencia Hotel Group.
