Welk Resorts Palm Springs Undergoes Multimillion-Dollar Renovation

Desert Oasis by Welk Resorts, near Palm Springs in Cathedral City, Calif., is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation and refurbishment to all 162 of its vacation villas. The project began in spring 2019 and is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2020 holiday season. These 800 square-foot, well-appointed, one-bedroom villas are available now for stays and can be booked directly through welkresorts.com/palm-springs.
With a mid-century modern feel, the improvements to each unit included new flooring, fixtures, furniture, wall and ceiling texturing, painting with soft color palette, window treatments, artwork, and larger smart TVs with streaming capability. Common areas and exterior landscaping are also undergoing a refresh.
Work began in May, and 68 units in two buildings have been completed. The remaining 94 units and three buildings will receive their remodels in 2020 also beginning in May.
Surrounded by breathtaking views of the San Jacinto Mountains, the one-bedroom villas comfortably sleep four guests and feature a king size bed, a spacious living room with queen sleeper sofa, a fully-equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, cookware and dishware, and LED, smart televisions in both bedroom and living room, as well as a private patio or balcony. Guests also receive free parking.
From late November through April, travelers can expect cooler seasonal temperatures with year-round sunshine. Desert Oasis by Welk Resorts features a resort-style pool and spa, and an adult-only lap pool, a small fitness center, and an activities room with pool tables, foosball, PS4 and Nintendo Switch, games and videos.
For relaxing poolside, the Palm Terrace Café is the perfect destination for cold drinks and tasty snacks. The resort also has fun activities guests can enjoy, including: a high-tech Virtual Reality experience, drone flying, local craft beer tastings and 1920s-themed Prohibition Era Escape Room. For championship golf and tennis, the adjacent Cathedral Canyon Golf and Tennis Club is the place to go.
