Sin City's longest running hotel & casino completes massive renovation project in January 2021, with a few more exciting changes on the way.
A true hallmark of Las Vegas history, the iconic El Cortez Hotel & Casino in Downtown Las Vegas is thrilled to announce the completion of its recent $25 million renovation project, which culminated just in time for its 80th anniversary this year.
Built in 1941, El Cortez is the longest running hotel & casino in Las Vegas. As protectors of its long and vibrant history, the team behind this beloved hotel, including owner Kenny Epstein, has made sure to keep its integrity intact while renovating the space, taking special care to bring an elevated guest experience while preserving the same vintage charm and authenticity that have captivated Las Vegas locals and tourists for 80 years.
As part of the remodel, El Cortez revamped the casino floor with brand new ceilings and a woven Axminster carpet by Brintons, a world-famous manufacturer. Spanning almost all 42,000 square feet of the main level, the carpet brings a vibrant energy to the casino floor boasting a fiery leopard print and leaf design boldly displaying eye-catching colors, including bright red, gold and green.
In addition, El Cortez features 200 remodeled, premium tower rooms and suites that inspire a modern take on historical themes. Boasting a warm, contemporary design blended with a bit of whimsy, the suites draw inspiration from the Spanish Colonial Revival era, with decorative elements including black-and-white floor tiles, traditional style rugs, modern accent furniture and carved wood details.
Leading up to the highly anticipated 80th anniversary in October, El Cortez will unveil a few more exciting changes, including thoughtful updates to the original vintage rooms, a new hotel lobby and dazzling high-limit room.
