A Look Back in Time
Designed by Henry J. Hardenbergh, one of the most legendary architects of the 19th century, who was also behind the renowned Dakota Apartments, the Waldorf Hotel, and the Astoria Hotel, Martinique New York on Broadway's exterior exudes French Renaissance charm coupled with Midtown sophistication. The remarkable property has remained one of the neighborhood's architectural focal points for generations and continues to be beloved for its striking façade of rusticated stonework balconies and prominent cartouches. Upon entering the hotel, guests will step into the restored lobby, surrounded by the 18-story Instagrammable Grand Spiral Marble Staircase which has remained since 1907, and a 15th-century clock built by the same clockmaker for King James I. Guests can also discover the hotel's nautical-inspired mosaic lobby tile, including newly revealed portions that have been covered since the mid-19th century.
The distinguished property is also located close to the Empire State Building and served as the venue for the building's opening celebration back in 1930. Significant to the legendary history is the hotel's deep-rooted connection to monumental moments in time and throughout its history, Martinique New York on Broadway has played host to some of the world's most prominent luminaries. In 1916, department store magnate Rodman Wanamaker sponsored a luncheon at Martinique New York on Broadway bringing together 100 prominent golf professionals and leaders of the game, becoming the formal birthplace of The Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA).
Food and Beverage
Debuting in 2022, Martinique New York on Broadway will also unveil several new, inventive food and beverage venues from the celebrated hospitality team of "Top Chef Master" alumni Franklin Becker and restaurateurs Stephen Loffredo and Tora Matsuoka. The Broadway location will include an exciting, new American grill concept while the 33rd Street side of the hotel will debut an elevated cocktail lounge harkening back to the era of great New York hotel bars featuring a small plates menu.
For guests on the move and locals alike, the culinary team will open two new retail options including a bespoke coffee kiosk experience featuring house-made pastries, baked goods, and deftly crafted to-go light fare. Also, on 32nd Street, the team will premiere a new, innovative donut concept. Once open, all of these new venues will welcome guests to an elevated gastronomic experience in the heart of Midtown South.
