Mandarin Oriental, Geneva unveils the new design of its meeting rooms to offer visitors a unique experience. With breathtaking views of the Rhône river and a décor inspired by nature, mountains and water, these redesigned meeting rooms are an inspiring space to work. By also redesigning its rooms and suites with river views, Mandarin Oriental, Geneva continues its transformation into an ever more modern and eco-responsible hotel, just a stone's throw from the Old Town.
With unique views over the river, more than 1,000 square metres of meeting space have been redesigned, offering 11 separate rooms that are ideal for events. The names of the meeting rooms pay tribute to historical personalities who have left their mark on Geneva, including Émile Jaques-Dalcroze, Ferdinand Hodler, Voltaire and James Fazy.
All meeting rooms enjoy natural daylight and the larger Rhône river-view rooms are decorated with mirrors on the ceiling to increase the impression of space and reflect the daylight. Materials in light wood and sound-absorbing wall fabrics reinforce the peaceful atmosphere.
The conference rooms are modular with movable partitions and can be adapted to meeting formats and visitor requirements. Presentation screens are discreetly integrated into the ceiling of each lounge and can be opened on command. The lighting can also be adjusted as needed.
A new gallery for accessing the lounges has been specially designed to allow participants to isolate themselves to work or telephone in complete serenity. Alcoves have also been created to provide an intimate environment that encourages concentration.
The spacious and luminous rooms (from 26 square metres), Corner Suites (80 square metres) and Deluxe Suites (95 square metres) with Rhône views have been redesigned using materials from Switzerland and neighbouring countries such as France, Italy and Germany. Embellished with contemporary Swiss works of art, the rooms pay tribute to the history of the old building, formerly known as the Hôtel du Rhône, to the Swiss landscape and to the river's course from the glaciers to the Mediterranean. The pictures that adorn their walls were taken by great photographers such as Rosario Civello, a landscape and nature specialist, and Jean-François Hagenmüller, considered one of the greatest mountain photographers.
The rooms and suites with a view of the Rhône play with the nuances and colours characteristic of the seasons. Bright spring and summer colours such as blue, yellow and light grey decorate the rooms and Deluxe Suites, while warmer orange and brown tones reflect the spirit of autumn in the Corner Suites.
The Corner Suites are enhanced by their unique views of the Rhône, St. Peter's Cathedral and the Swiss Alps. A spectacular mirror on one wall of each suite reflects the light and creates a harmonious and serene atmosphere. The Corner Suite is furnished like an apartment that invites guests to feel at home: the library and the living room with its majestic sofa are ideal for relaxation, and there is a dining area for up to six people. Mountain photographs are a natural part of the suite's soothing and cosy atmosphere. The suite can be connected to a second bedroom, making it ideal for families.
Involved since the launch of its redesign programme in 2019 with a sustainable development approach, Mandarin Oriental, Geneva wished to strengthen its commitment with new initiatives. Since 2021, the hotel has continued its efforts to eliminate single-use plastic from the hotel's operations. For example, aluminium soap dispensers and packaging have been installed, room key cards are made of lime wood and in-room water bottles are made of reusable glass. The hotel is also reducing its carbon impact by conserving resources. The energy used is 100% renewable and the redesigned rooms and suites with Rhône river views are now equipped with low-energy LEDs.
