Fukuoka is an increasingly popular destination for Asian visitors, particularly from Korea, many of whom repeat. The Royal Park Canvas - Fukuoka Nakasu sports an unusual freestyle design that goes beyond the conventional hotel interior and exterior. More than half of its 255 rooms can accommodate up to 3 people, ideal for travelling with friends and family. Many of the rooms have sofa beds for extra comfort.
The newest hotel of the CANVAS series features many spaces in line with the CANVAS philosophy - to have fun, think local and be connected. Its interior includes natural materials such a wood, stone and tiles sourced in Kyushu. Artworks in the guest rooms and lounge represent Kyushu's nature and have been created by local artists. The hotel's restaurant ONO HAKATA -Octo Natura Kyusyu specialises in local dishes cooked over a traditional woodfire. Overlooking the Hakata River, the CANVAS Lounge with its terrace provides a space for both hotel guests and locals to gather, enjoy music events or simply sit and take in the bustling life of the waterfront below. On the other hand, the Rooftop Garden is a serene green space evoking Kyushu's lush vegetation and forests. The design of the hotel's public bath is inspired by the pure and moist air and glistening lights of Kyushu's valleys.
Sustainability is an important aspect of The Royal Park Canvas - Fukuoka Nakasu and staff and management alike are committed to address SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) with hands-on initiatives. Some examples include the reduction of plastic and single-use items, the firewood for the restaurant comes from damaged trees in the Fukuoka Prefecture and food scraps are composted and turned into soil for local farmers. Also, the hotel staff's uniforms are genderless, as per their own request, allowing for personal choices while limiting the use of resources.
