The Roman destination will join existing, vibrant art'otel properties in some of Europe's most creative cities, including London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Zagreb and Cologne.
art'otel Rome Piazza Sallustio is set to mark the brand's entrance to Italy with its debut in a prime location: Piazza Sallustio. With the city's main shopping districts and landmarks a short walk away, Piazza Sallustio embodies the essence of the art and history of the Eternal City, with the famous Horti Sallustiani right in front of the hotel.
The hotel features 99 contemporary guestrooms and suites, many with terraces and all boasting signature artworks by Pietro Ruffo including originals, the redeveloped property will be home to an array of culture and entertainment facilities with Ruffo's artworks woven throughout the interior design for a truly immersive art-led experience. A destination restaurant and bar and its large terrace with hero art pieces, will open from lunch until late and is set to bring a unique drinking & dining concept to the city with a primary focus on locals with aperitivo and DJs completing the offering. An art gallery, another star of the show, will be home to ever-changing exhibitions and will be available to hire for unforgettable parties and events surrounded by creativity. A packed culturally driven art'beat events programme with art, music, fashion, wellness and culinary events for guests and locals, a fitness centre with sauna, and a creative meeting room complete the art'otel offering.
Each art'otel serves as a blank canvas for a Signature Artist and their art collection. art'otel Rome will be brought to life by renowned Roman artist Pietro Ruffo. In what is a "perfect meeting of minds and creativity", Ruffo will be working closely with lead interior designer Eyal Shoan and his studio Digital Space, to create a truly immersive and thought-provoking art experience from the moment guests step inside. Ruffo lives and works in his native Rome, in a studio which, fittingly for the Italian capital, was once a pasta factory. The theatrical nature of Ruffo's work has led to a run of commissions for major fashion houses, who have turned to the artist for intricate designs that form a backdrop to the latest haute couture. In 2015, Ruffo designed "a modern Roman forum" for Valentino shows in Piazza Mignanelli, and since 2017 Ruffo has worked closely with Maria Grazia Chiuri designing show sets and capsule collections for Dior, most recently the Dior Around the World collection of 2020. "The collection of the art'otel unfolds stories of the different historical layers that have built Rome over the centuries, from the sky above us with a particular focus on constellations, to the flora and fauna on which we walk, but also the people who have lived in this city over the different centuries".
The new art-led opening will be guided by Italian Diego Di Gaetano, the newly appointed General Manager. Tasked with bringing the art'otel brand to life in Rome across all hotel operations, Di Gaetano brings with him over 20 years' experience in hospitality, with a particular focus on luxury and lifestyle hotels within the Leading Hotels of the World and Design Hotels collections, as well as holding a key role in several much talked about openings, including Hoxton Rome.
