La Jolla landmark property unveils 110 revamped guestrooms and suites, meetings space, and debuts new penthouse level restaurant

Hotel La Jolla, Curio Collection by Hilton, a city landmark located in the picturesque seaside community of La Jolla Shores, has put the finishing touches on a multi-million-dollar property renovation encompassing 110 guestrooms and suites and 1,600 square feet of meetings and events space. The extensive revitalization introduces a sophisticated, modern beach-inspired aesthetic to the property, as well as an all-new penthouse level restaurant concept, Sea & Sky, which promises to bring La Jolla's dining scene to new heights from its perch on the property's 11th floor.

The new look and feel of the property imagined by award-winning hospitality design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), draws inspiration from the layers of texture, organic shapes, and dreamy color palette that mimics the property's sun kissed coastal location. The redesign of the spaces offers a stunning nod to the surrounding landscape, including the use of neutral flooring and muted blue furnishings celebrating the sand and sea, and artwork reflecting the area's culture, scenery, and rich past. Guestroom upgrades include new textiles and wallcoverings, stylish, high-end furnishings, the installation of oversized work desks, modern dressers, and 55" televisions, upgraded bathrooms, and new, modern outdoor furniture for enjoying the ocean views afforded by every one of the property's west-facing guestrooms and suites. The property's new 850-square-foot King Ocean View Suites feature separate living areas, wet bar, work-from-anywhere friendly desk, sofa bed, walk-in shower, and an additional half bathroom for additional convenience.

Thanks to newly revamped meetings space and an enviable location in San Diego's centrally located coastal enclave of La Jolla, Hotel La Jolla will continue to attract a healthy mix of corporate and business clientele. The property's 1,600 square feet of space, including a large divisible room with seating for up to 80 and floor-to-ceiling views of the adjacent Pacific Ocean, has been completely reimagined with new flooring, wall coverings, paint, and updated lighting to complement the same soothing aesthetic played through each of the guestrooms and suites.

The highlight of the full-scale renovation is the debut of Sea & Sky, a sea-to-table restaurant occupying the hotel's top floor. For the new design, HBA has created a brighter, more modern space showcasing the expansive sea views which have become the location's hallmark, but with a contemporary color palette and an updated design, enclosed show kitchen, and expanded bar. In addition to an elegant main dining room outfitted with cozy banquettes and intimate window-side tables for two, Sea & Sky features a private dining area with seating for 16, providing an additional option for business dinners and smaller receptions.

James Beard-nominated Executive Chef Anthony Wells was tapped to oversee all food and beverage operations for the hotel, including menu development and day-to-day operation of Sea & Sky. Chef Wells has developed a menu showcasing the freshest, locally caught seafood and regional ingredients with the same creative, elegant presentations that have garnered him countless culinary accolades during his career. Menu highlights include starters such as Musselsin a broth ofgarlic and cilantro butter, dusted with chorizo breadcrumbs; Scallops with English peas, morel mushrooms, bacon dashi, and Meyer lemon; and creamy Bone Marrow served with tuna sashimi, pineapple pico, and pepita salsa macha, served with warm tortillas. Main course selections include Wild King Salmon bathed in smoked mushrooms, green garlic, and clam and artichoke chowder; White Sea Bass served with charred spring onions, and green romesco sauce; and Bone-In NY Strip Steak with sides of Alaskan potatoes, horseradish bearnaise, and house made steak sauce. A whimsical menu of house made desserts include a Churro Ice Cream "Sandwich" with fuille de brik, cinnamon sugar, and smoked vanilla ice cream; île Flottante, which translates to floating island, with Cara Cara anglaise, fresh citrus, and crispy sorrel meringue; and a Chocolate Tart sweetened with salted caramel, dark chocolate ganache, and whipped mascarpone. The restaurant also features an innovative drink menu featuring a variety of regional California and Valle de Guadalupe wines, and handcrafted cocktails presenting elixirs, herb infusions, fresh-pressed juices, and exotic ingredients from around the world. Sea & Sky is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week. Breakfast is served daily from 7 - 11 a.m., and lunch takes place from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weekend brunch is featured every Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. Dinner is served daily from 5 - 10 p.m.
