Un-beat-able Design: The Aussie hotel brand brings bold vibes to Düsseldorf.
TRIBE continues to expand it European portfolio with the opening of TRIBE Düsseldorf, its second hotel in Germany. Centrally located in Düsseldorf, in walking distance from the central station and Königsallee, the hotel has opened after an extensive refurbishment of the former Intercity Hotel. The building once housed the Bhagwan-Disco, a party icon of the 1980s and 1990s. The new hotel boasts a bold design following the vision of the London-based design studio Feix&Merlin, 146 stylish rooms, a California-style 'TRIBE Table' restaurant, a gym, a multifunctional lounge and co-working space with an all-day bar, as well as four meeting rooms. Property owner is Dr. Rüger Holding GmbH & Co.KG, a family owned real estate investment corporation.
Founded in 2017 in Australia, TRIBE promises "more for less" and represents a bold design edit for travellers who crave stylish and modern hotels at an affordable price. TRIBE hotels are designed to give guests everything they need and nothing they don't. TRIBE Düsseldorf is the brand's 20th hotel globally and the second in Germany, following the opening of TRIBE Baden-Baden in 2023.
One for all - Inclusivity as design-inspiration
The interior designers of the TRIBE Düsseldorf are Feix&Merlin, an LGBTQ+ led design practice based in London. Rooted in the concept of bringing like-minded individuals together through shared values, the design takes its inspiration from the inclusivity symbol [+].
Housed in what was once the legendary Bhagwan Disco, the inclusivity theme resonates throughout the hotel's design. The layout of the Social Hub and the floor patterns echo the symbol's brackets, with the reception area forming the central "plus," serving as a unifying focal point.
In the guest rooms, this symbol transforms into a bespoke monogram pattern on the drapery, created through an innovative graphic process. The fabric incorporates photographic artwork by Isabella Bellis, a local artist and rising talent, who captured images during an exclusive photoshoot in one of the rooms. The photos feature individuals from diverse backgrounds, celebrating inclusivity. These images also appear as framed prints in the guest rooms and as striking visual elements within the elevators.
The TRIBE Düsseldorf's design is a seamless blend of artistry and inclusivity, creating a space that welcomes and connects all who visit. The heartbeat of the hotel is the central, multifunctional "Social Hub," which serves as the hotel's reception, coffee bar, and trendy evening venue. The surrounding lounge space offers the perfect setting for everything from coffee dates and fancy cocktails to focused co-working, with flexible booths and plug-in stations for added convenience.
The "TRIBE Table Cali" restaurant accommodates up to 60 guests and serves Californian-inspired dishes. Whether for a quick lunch or a casual dinner with friends, this sophisticated restaurant has exactly what guests and locals are looking for.
In line with the TRIBE vibe, the 146 rooms offer key essentials, featuring smart design, premium bedding, and amenities, including KEVIN.MURPHY beauty products.
The hotel also offers four flexible meeting rooms, each capable of hosting up to 50 people, which can be combined into two larger spaces as needed. Additionally, all hotel guests have complimentary access to the in-house gym.
