One of South Africa's oldest and most loved working wine farms has entered a new season. Spier Wine Farm, renowned for its award-winning wines and commitment to regenerative farming, will welcome guests to its new hotel from March 2025 as one of the most anticipated openings in South Africa.

The complete transformation of the Spier Hotel comes at a significant moment for Western Cape tourism. International travel to Africa is evolving, with a new generation of visitors seeking experiences that go beyond luxury to embrace authenticity and purpose.

A Natural Sanctuary

Set within the world-renowned Cape Floral Kingdom, Spier Hotel emerges as a sanctuary where nature and comfort are intertwined. The property's rewilded indigenous gardens are home to 39,000 reintroduced fynbos plants, creating a living tapestry of Cape flora. At its heart, an expansive wellness Spa features a Cape Herbal Bath House set among these gardens, where healing botanicals are cultivated for therapeutic treatments.

All hotel rooms will enjoy a private space that opens onto wild-landscaped Cape gardens or features Juliet balconies overlooking the Helderberg mountains, creating an intimate connection with the surrounding biodiverse landscape.

A Layered Experience

Just 30 minutes from Cape Town International Airport, the hotel's new reimagined offering includes 80 luxury rooms and suites in an elegant village-style layout, two new restaurants celebrating farm-to-table dining, three bars including a rooftop sundowner bar, and one of the largest heated pools in the Winelands. A feature wine library showcases the farm's award-winning vintages, while the 735m² spa houses ten treatment rooms, its signature Cape Herbal Bath House, a mindful movement studio, and a private pool. An exclusive spa product line, crafted from farm-grown and wild-harvested botanicals, complements the wellness journey. The property's 3,600-piece contemporary South African art collection adds another dimension to the guest experience, thoughtfully curated throughout the spaces by the Spier Arts Trust.

Accommodation ranges from elegant rooms and individually-decorated suites to two upcoming private three-bedroom villas available from mid-2025. Each villa will feature three en-suite bedrooms accommodating six guests. With private pools, expansive outdoor entertainment areas, and dedicated chef and butler service, these secluded villas combine the privacy of a standalone residence with full access to hotel amenities.

While the restaurants, spa, and Cape Herbal Bath House welcome day visitors, hotel guests enjoy exclusive access to immersive farm experiences, a nature-inspired kids' program at The Buzz Kids Club, and premium facilities, including a state-of-the-art gym and pool in a secluded riverside setting.

Goodness Flows

Throughout the extensive refurbishment, the hotel's Fair Trade accreditation and Growing for Good initiatives have remained steadfast, with staff participating in accredited hospitality training. At Spier, goodness flows through every facet of the operation - from nurturing the soil to supporting communities and creating memorable experiences.

The new Spier Hotel opens on March 1, 2025, ushering in a new era of Cape hospitality - one that offers an immersive place of peace and connection while creating experiences that will resonate long after guests return home.
