Steven Cowan has been appointed General Manager at Hilton San Francisco Union Square in San Fransisco
Most recently, Cowan served as the general manager of Washington Hilton, a position he held since 2009. In this role, he oversaw a two-year $150 million hotel restoration as well as numerous high profile events at the landmark hotel including the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. Additionally, Cowan has held the position of complex general manager for both the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Washington DC – Crystal City and Embassy Suites Crystal City – National Airport as well as general manager of DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Atlanta – Galleria. Before joining Hilton Worldwide, Cowan served as general manager with Berkeley Hotels located in Portland and Brunswick, Maine. He began his hospitality career as director of purchasing at Sheraton White Mountain Resort in North Conway, New Hampshire. Cowan attended the University of Maine and has served on several industry-related boards, including as Vice Chair of the Hotel Association of Washington, D.C. and as board member and former convention committee co-chair of Destination DC. Outside of the hospitality industry, Cowan is a private pilot who enjoys classic auto restoration. Hilton San Francisco Union Square is in its final phase of renovation, offering contemporary accommodations, just steps from shopping, dining and entertainment in the heart of Union Square. The property, which was recently ranked one of Cvent’s Top 100 Meeting Hotels, features 134,500 square feet of meetings and special events space, including 73 meeting rooms and an opulent 30,000 square foot Grand Ballroom. Together with adjacent Parc 55 San Francisco, a Hilton Hotel, the properties offer nearly 3,000 rooms and 165,000 square feet of functional meeting space to serve as a one-stop-shop for groups.
