Mark Swinton has been appointed General Manager at Six Senses Bhutan in Thimphu
Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has appointed Mark Swinton as general manager of Six Senses Bhutan.Mark joins Six Senses Bhutan following his role as general manager of Amanusa in Bali and regional director of Aman Resorts in Indonesia. He brings more than 30 years of hospitality experience across international and independent hotel groups covering food and beverage, room divisions, resident manager roles and general manager assignments. His previous positions have been with Pan Pacific Vancouver, Pan Pacific Pangkor Malaysia, Pan Pacific Whistler, Melia in Bali and Dai-Ichi Hotel in Saipan. He held leadership positions at the Bale in Bali, Amankora in Bhutan, Aman Beijing and Amanjiwo at Borobudur in Indonesia to name just a few. Mark is a graduate in hotel management from The British Columbia Institute of Technology, Canada. He has spent most of his working years in Asia. He has a passion for interior design and photography and when combined in a harmonious way helps him to unwind by designing the interior in which he lives. A sports and fitness enthusiast, Mark spends his free time running long distance, playing golf or skiing. He is also a foodie and enjoys new food experiences wherever he goes. Mark comes originally from the western coast of Canada, where he confesses he was a tree hugger from a young age, always finding ways to preserve nature and prevent human scars on the environment. This passion will serve him well at Six Senses. Mark’s role as general manger of Six Senses Bhutan will be leading the operation of five individual resorts, but all under the umbrella of one all-encompassing experience: Six Senses Bhutan. Totaling 82 guest suites, the five properties are located throughout the country in five separate locations and make up an extraordinary and enchanted journey for guests. The locations are Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey, Bumthang and Paro in the colorful kingdom known as the Happiest Place on Earth. 1
