Cate Mills has been appointed Vice President of Design at Long Weekend
Hospitality group Long Weekend announced today the addition of Cate Mills as Vice President of Design to their senior leadership team. This new appointment further solidify Long Weekend's commitment to develop a collection of intimate and immersive resorts in unexpected destinations.
With 15 years in the interior design and design development industry, Cate Mills joins Long Weekend as Vice President of Design. In her new role, Mills will be managing all external design teams on new development projects and existing property renovations, as well as leading in-house interior design. Mills previously served as design director in development at Andre Balazs Properties, overseeing design on notable properties including The Mercer, The Standard Hotels and Sunset Beach along with new developments. She moved on to become creative director at AD100 interior design firm Gachot Studios, overseeing design for hospitality, commercial residential, retail and residential projects, with an emphasis on producing custom furnishing, textiles and lighting. She brings a deep understanding of hospitality design as well as an expertise in boutique hotel development to Long Weekend. Additional notable projects include Shinola Hotel in Detroit, the Glossier flagship and Standard Highline in New York City.
Mills' first project with Long Weekend was leading the interior design of the Willowbrook Spa, which opened in May 2021 at The Lake House on Canandaigua. The design elegantly responds to that of the neighboring hotel structures, bringing a private and welcoming lake cabin quality to the serene space. Willowbrook Spa has already been recognized by national publications such as Harper's Bazaar and Goop.
