Christopher Chia

Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Christopher Chia as General Manager of Island Shangri-La with immediate effect.

A seasoned hotelier with a career spanning over 30 years with the Shangri-La Group, Mr. Chia possesses extensive managerial experience overseeing flagship properties, including Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore; Edsa Shangri-La Hotel, Manila and Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing, and developing new projects under the Group's portfolio across the North China region. His most recent position was Vice President at Shangri-La Hotel International Management Limited, a role which he had held since 2014, while concurrently taking on the role of General Manager at China World Hotel from 2016 to 2019, followed by a short stint outside of the Group and then embarked on a two-year sabbatical.

In his new role, Mr. Chia will oversee the daily operations of Island Shangri-La, including the extensive asset enhancement of our guestrooms, an exciting new wellness concept and the introduction of new Family rooms and facilities. The project anticipates completion by the end of 2022. His return will be pivotal in leading the hotel through these challenging times, managing the strategic growth of the property through venturing into new market segments, and further refining the guest experience to elevate Island Shangri-La's renowned luxury to even greater heights.

Besides managing the Island Shangri-La, Mr. Chia will also oversee Aberdeen Marina Club in his new capacity.
