Claudia Bowers has been appointed Director of Sales & Marketing at Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel in Portland
Claudia Bowers brings over 15 years of experience in hospitality to her role as Director of Sales and Marketing at the Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel in Portland, Oregon. Her rich background in luxury sales, business development and event management is rooted in her work at some of Oregon's top wineries and top tier hospitality brands.
Raised in Costa Rica, Bowers spent time in San Francisco prior to moving to Portland in the early 90s. It was in Portland where she first began her career in hospitality serving as both general manager and wine instructor at a boutique winery. After several years in this position, she accepted a role as Brand Ambassador for WillaKenzie Estate Winery where she assisted the national sales team for the family-owned, estate-driven winery. During her time with WillaKenzie, Bowers connected with leading chefs and hoteliers in the country, through wine sales and leading in-person events on properties.
Her career in wine soon led her to accept a role as the Business Travel Sales Manager at the Benson Hotel where she managed Corporate, Entertainment and Sports Markets. Following her time at the Benson Hotel, Bowers moved on to serve as the Business Travel & Leisure Sales Manager at the Porter Portland, Curio Collection by Hilton where she managed over 100 corporate accounts.
After taking time to focus on her family during the pandemic, Bowers soon accepted her current role as Director of Sales and Marketing at the Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel. Developing and continually enhancing relationships with key corporate, catering, travel industry accounts, community organizations and professional associations to maintain high visibility in the Portland market. Since joining the team, Bowers has played a strong role in the property's wine program. Guests can look forward to more creative leisure offerings driven from Bowers strong relationships with local wineries in the area, such as vineyard tours, and onsite wine tastings. In her free time Bowers enjoys keeping up with the local Portland dining scene, cooking for friends, taking daily walks (no matter rain or shine), and volunteering at local animal shelters. She is also a board member of the Oregon Business Travel Association.
