Xavier Pougnard

Shangri-La Singapore is pleased to welcome back Xavier Pougnard, as Hotel Manager of Shangri-La Singapore, its first hotel in the group comprising 792 rooms across three distinctive wings set amidst 15 acres of lush tropical gardens.

A familiar face at Shangri-La Singapore, Xavier has left an indelible mark during his tenure with this flagship property from 2014 to 2019, which saw him providing strategic leadership and playing a pivotal role in the successful renovation of the property's iconic Tower Wing and the implementation of a hotel-wide Family Experience and Wellness positioning. This initiative aligned with the company's strategic vision of repositioning the hotel as a leading family-friendly destination, introduced new tailored experiences and amenities to meet the needs of multi-generational guests.

As the Hotel Manager of Shangri-La Singapore, Xavier will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hotel including its 8 restaurants and bars, the Shangri-La Apartments and Shangri-La Residences; and will lead commercial growth, inspire service excellence, enhance guest engagement, strengthening community partnerships and elevating the hotel's luxury family positioning to new heights.

His most recent role at Apple Singapore as its Store Leader saw him leading the successful operations of these flagship stores, managing a team of 500 employees across both locations, consistently achieving and surpassing fiscal and customer satisfaction goals across various channels. Xavier demonstrated exemplary leadership posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, by navigating store closures and effectively managing the reopening process.

With an impressive career spanning 23 years, Xavier brings with him a wealth of experience in operating international five-star luxury hotels in key cities across Asia, Egypt, and the United States since 1996. Xavier also held the position of Resident Manager at The Peninsula Hong Kong where he spearheaded notable initiatives such as guestroom renovations, the development of a conference centre and orchestrated the Hotel's grand 85th Anniversary celebrations. He also made notable contributions at esteemed properties such as Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano in Egypt, Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza, and The Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City in the USA, among others.
