Daniel Karbownik

Accor Middle East and Africa has officially announced Daniel Karbownik's elevation to the role of Vice President of Operations, focusing on the Sub-Saharan Africa region. Effective from November 1, 2023, Karbownik joins the operational teams of Accor's Premium, Mid-range, and Economy brands across the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey.

Boasting a rich, three-decade career spanning tourism and hospitality on five continents, particularly in North and West Africa, Karbownik is set to infuse his extensive expertise into this role.

His 12-year tenure at Accor has been marked by a consistent drive to embrace new challenges and expand his leadership responsibilities. Notably, his 2019 appointment as General Manager for Accor in West and Central Africa played a pivotal role in advancing the group's regional growth.

This new position allows Karbownik to widen his operational oversight to encompass all of Sub-Saharan Africa's hotels, spanning from luxury to economy segments.

Stationed in Abidjan, he operates under the guidance of Jonathan Sheard, Senior Vice President of Operations for Accor Middle East and Africa.

Karbownik's foray into the tourism industry began in 1987 with Club Méditerranée. By 1999, he had ascended to the role of General Manager at Club Med World in Paris, followed by a leadership position over several Club Meds in Marrakech in 2002. He led Club Med Events as President from 2006 to 2009. In January 2010, Karbownik's path aligned with the Accor group, starting as the General Manager of Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf & Spa. His journey through Accor saw him manage Luxury and Upscale Brands in South Morocco, including notable properties like Sofitel Agadir Royal Bay and MGallery La Medina Essaouira. By 2016, he had risen to oversee AccorHotels Luxury in Senegal and Ivory Coast, culminating in his 2019 appointment as Area General Manager for West and Central Africa.
