Nicolas McDermott has been appointed General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco
The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco is delighted to announce the appointment of Nicholas McDermott as its new General Manager, effective May 13, 2024.
Nicholas joins The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco from The St. Regis Houston, where he served as General Manager for the past four years. His remarkable leadership during unprecedented times, notably steering the hotel through pandemic challenges, has earned him recognition throughout the hospitality industry. Under his guidance, The St. Regis Houston achieved remarkable success, including significant improvements in topline revenue, EBITDA, operational efficiency, associate satisfaction scores, and the prestigious "Western region talent leadership award".
With a distinguished culinary background, Nicholas began his career at the Fairmont Château Lake Louise Hotel in Canada before assuming leadership roles at award-winning establishments such as The Westin Calgary and The Westin Boston Waterfront. His expertise led him to positions such as Director of Food & Beverage at the iconic Westin Book Cadillac and Director of Operations at The Westin Houston Memorial City, where the hotel proudly hosted Super Bowl 51 and earned the NFL Travel Hotel of the Year award in 2016.
Nicholas further distinguished himself as Director of Hotel Operations at the JW Marriott Houston by the Galleria, overseeing a transformative renovation and achieving exceptional operational scores, earning another NFL Travel Hotel of the Year award in 2019.
Educated at City & Guild of London: Harlow College and East Hert's College in England, Nicholas holds a Culinary Arts & Hospitality Degree and has pursued numerous training and certifications, including ELP & BLT Champion, Six Sigma Green Belt, and executive leadership programs offered by Cornell University, UNC, and the City and Guilds of London Institute.
