Matt Canning

Matt Canning began his tenure at Westport Hospitality as a key member of Hotel Vermont's opening in 2013. Having worn many hats including Front Office Manager, F&B Manager and Assistant General Manager, Canning is well prepared to succeed van Wees as General Manager. A South Burlington native, Canning's passion for local food and beverage has influenced Vermont's hospitality scene, particularly through his work in beer tourism, agriculture, and restaurant development. "Having worked closely with Hans over the past decade, I am eager to take what I've learned to continue elevating Hotel Vermont as a leader in the hospitality industry," says Canning. "As a lifelong hospitality enthusiast, I am thrilled to continue collaborating with our diverse and amazing team to grow our presence in the Burlington community."
