Sérgio Serra is a Software Developer and technology enthusiast with over 10 years of experience in the hospitality and digital space. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in the development of powerful and dynamic solutions that solve complex business problems - with the primary aim being to optimize the user experience and automate operational processes. As a dreamer and hyper-competent professional who is passionate about innovation, Sérgio combines comprehensive technical knowledge with lateral thinking and creativity to explore new ways of meeting today’s industry needs. With his enthusiasm and out-of-the-box mindset, he makes technology engaging and simplifies much of its complexities for the average person. Sérgio began his software career in 1999, first as a Developer and later as a Systems Analyst. Over the years he has focused on the development and deployment of large industrial applications like ERPs and production planning software. He began developing web applications in 2004, predominantly with PHP and Javascript. In 2010 he founded his own startup focused on web-based veterinary software and later embraced the travel and hospitality industry. In 2012 he joined Guestcentric Systems as a Senior Software Engineer, where he has since progressed to his current role as Chief Technology Officer. As a history buff and literary aficionado, Sérgio (whose surname literally means The Mountain) is an ecosystem of diverse knowledge and ideas. He is a frequent guest-speaker in podcasts and author of bold opinion articles that challenge the status quo in technology and how it relates to Travel & Hospitality. Sérgio’s work has been published in the world’s leading trade publications, including HospitalityNet, Hospitality Technology, Hotel Online, Techtalk.Travel, and TNEWs. He has also spoken on university campuses to educate up and coming industry professionals on the latest technology trends and how they may impact the industry. As a dark horse and rebel by nature, Sérgio is an avid heavy metal headbanger, who also dabbles in some guitar playing in his free time.
