ALLEGRO RESORTS ENTERS EDUCATION ARENA

New Venture With Two Caribbean Universities & International Hotel Chain

SANTO DOMINGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC --- As part of a major undertaking to support human resources in tourism and hotel management, Allegro Resorts Dominicana, S. A. has joined forces with the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) of the Dominican Republic, the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, and Occidental Hoteles, signing the industry's first agreement between the all-inclusive hotel sector and the academic community of the Caribbean.

The training center, expected to open in March 1997 in the Hotel Parque La Mansión, North of Santo Domingo, will place a large emphasis on all-inclusive resort operations and provide industry information gathered from hoteliers and professors, as well as organize conferences, meetings, seminars, symposiums and workshops. The center will enable tourism students to easily access human resources and career opportunities in the industry, upon completion of the program. Professorts participating in the program will be trained on the all-inclusive concept by Allegro Resorts' executives.

Alberto F. Del Pino, president and CEO of Allegro Resorts and instrumental force in creating the training center emphasized the need to unite the academics with the working world to provide tourism and hospitality students with the necessary skills required for the job market after college. "Most programs prepare students for traditional hospitality positions. This program will prepare them with knowledge needed to succeed in the all-inclusive market, the fastest growing segment in the travel industry today,." said Del Pino. According to Del Pino, over the last 15 years the all-inclusive product has had a dramatic growth of almost 6,000% in the Caribbean alone.

"Human resources is the most valuable resource that our economy counts on," added del Pino. "We as hoteliers in the Dominican Republic will further strengthen our ability to export to the world not only raw materials, but human resources of the highest caliber."

Allegro Resorts, the world's largest all-inclusive management company is headquartered in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and currently has 29 all-inclusive resorts under contract throughout the Dominican Republic, México, Venezuela, Tunisia (opening Spring 1997) and the Bahamas.
