Hilton Hotels and AT&T WorldNet Service distributing free Internet software to consumers
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. / Hilton Hotels Corp. and AT&T WorldNet Service are providing consumers in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., with free Internet access software.
Software for AT&T WorldNet Service, AT&T's value-added Internet access service is now available at 10 U.S. Hilton hotels and by calling a special Hilton order line at AT&T while supplies last.
The program is part of a broad marketing effort by the two companies to bring Internet services to guests or customers of Hilton hotels. Hilton also will be offering free AT&T WorldNet Service software to eligible members of the Hilton HHonors Worldwide guest reward program.
Available to all interested consumers whether or not they are registered hotel guests, the software is designed for personal computers that use the Windows 95 operating system. The offer is limited to one free diskette package or CD-ROM version per eligible person.
When people go on-line, they will be connected to a special version of AT&T WorldNet Service's home page established by AT&T for Hilton Hotels.
From there, if they sign up for AT&T WorldNet Service, users can go directly to the HiltonNet home page (www.hilton.com) and choose options such as browsing the Hilton Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Directory, making reservations, checking their HHonors account balance and learning about last minute travel bargains called Hilton Value Rates.
"Trial is the key to building familiarity and comfort with using the Internet, and Hilton is helping lead this charge," said Robert E. Dirks, senior vice president of marketing for Hilton Hotels. "For example, we recently encouraged customers to sample our HiltonNet on-line reservation system by setting up a fictitious 'cyber-resort' at which they could practice booking rooms.
"Through this latest effort with AT&T WorldNet Service, we're giving thousands of people the opportunity to explore the Internet and see for themselves that it's an easy, reliable tool for communication and shopping."
"Hilton is using the Internet to bring new value to its customers, just as AT&T seeks to bring new users to the Internet and to help them find value there," said James Olson, marketing director for AT&T WorldNet Service. "We are glad to have the opportunity to do that by bringing the reliability, ease of use and top-notch customer care of AT&T WorldNet Service to those who participate in Hilton's innovative program."
The 10 participating U.S. Hilton hotels will distribute free AT&T WorldNet Service software throughout the next three months. Those hotels are:
