BEVERLY HILLS, Calif - Just over two months since Hilton hotels began processing room reservations through its World Wide Web site, the company is seeing a surge in reservations volume and projects nearly one million dollars in revenue from online bookings by year's end.

Since July 24, visitors to HiltonNet at www.hilton.com have been allowed access to hotel rate and availability information and have been able to guarantee their room reservations with a credit card and receive a confirmation number. This online service has added hundreds of bookings to Hilton Hotel's monthly reservations volume and helped increase HiltonNet site visits by 30 percent.

"Purchasing travel products online is a new experience for many consumers, so we are particularly pleased with the results that HiltonNet has shown in its first two months of accepting hotel reservations," said Robert Dirks, senior vice president of marketing for Hilton Hotels. "By making is easy and fun to book a room online, Hilton is committed to providing the same quality service in cyberspace as in our hotels."

'Cyber-Resort' Attracts Thousands of Simulated Reservations

Hilton launched its online reservation service with a sweepstakes encouraging consumers to sample the booking procedure at the world's first "cyber-resort." More than 25,000 people entered the sweepstakes by reserving an imaginary room at the fictitious Hilton Internet Village Resort, and today Hilton announced the winners of the two grand prize packages.

Thomas A. Clark of Cedar Park, Texas, won a trip for two (round-trip air transportation and a four-night stay) to the Hilton Waikoloa Village resort on the Big Island of Hawaii. The second winner, Richard J. Anderson of Concord, Mass., received a trip for two (round-trip air transportation and a four-night stay) to the Key West Hilton Resort and Marina in Florida.

Even through the sweepstakes has concluded, customers who are members of the Hilton Hhoners guest reward program still have an opportunity to reap benefits by making reservations through HiltonNet. Between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30, HHonors members receive 1,000 HHonors bonus points for each stay they reserve through HiltonNet during that period. Members simply enter their HHonors account number in the online reservation form and the bonus points are automatically posted to their HHonors account after the hotel stay takes place.

Consumers who are not currently HHonors members can also join the program online by clicking "HHonors" on the HiltonNet home page and completing an enrollment form.
