Motel 6's New Central Reservations Technology Platform For Reservation Processing
Hotel Data Systems provides Windows-based xenon®CRS software for reservations.
Norwalk, CT, USA: - Hotel Data Systems, Inc., announced today that it has completed the first phase of the roll-out of Motel 6's strategic Central Reservations System (CRS) providing reservations service to nearly 800 properties. The implementation of the new reservation software by Motel 6 utilizes a Sun platform driven by a robust Oracle database.
The implementation of xenon®CRS was preceded by a detailed evaluation of other available CRS software providers. The software had to pass some very stringent response time requirements, which were benchmarked by an independent organization, emulating Motel 6's future transaction environment. The implementation of the xenon®CRS software is the cornerstone of Motel 6's focus on technology that has been charted as part of its future development and rapid growth.
xenon®CRS is an important technology tool for Motel 6 according to Carol Kirby , Executive VP . "The new reservation software allows us to sell our product efficiently and in a guest-centric environment. Our objective is to present standardized data from xenon®CRS to every point of sale. We are very impressed with the software and believe that deployment of this system is an important business tool compatible with our long term strategy."
Dave Alve, VP of Reservations, commented that " we are extremely impressed with the xenon®CRS software and the work that HDS has put into the project. We had to meet some very aggressive target dates for cutover and the HDS team met our expectations every step of the way. HDS' design of the software adapted very easily to our reservation model. The reservation process flows well. With this portion of the implementation over, we have a powerful, extremely flexible, leading edge CRS. We are now evaluating HDS' xenon®WEB and xenon®GDS for implementation starting next year."
Dave Alve continued: "Our decision to use xenon®CRS was based on many positive observations: Comparing xenon®CRS to a number of well-established CRS capable of handling our needs, an important issue that emerged was the ease with which our reservation requirements were met. Also, of great importance to us was the confirmation that the anticipated very large transaction volumes were easily handled by xenon®CRS. Finally, xenon®CRS will soon be interfaced with our PMS for a "last room inventory" status which will also be available to HDS' xenon®WEB and xenon®GDS products."
The database independent xenon®CRS was developed using Microsoft tools for Client/Server platforms. The deployment of the software to handle Motel 6's needs utilizes Oracle7, a powerful multi-threaded, Web-enabled database.
The installation of the xenon®CRS, a highly advanced and sophisticated Client/server solution, gives Motel 6 important central reservations technology with the ability to manage information efficiently. Beyond the normal guest -centric capabilities, the decision support information provided by xenon®CRS gives Motel 6 the ability to manage product strategies. This gives Motel 6 a competitive advantage when targeting specific markets through promotional programs during peak periods. xenon®CRS is a full-featured system capable of handling individual reservations, groups and conventions, wholesalers and allotments, multiple rate strategies and promotions, travel agency accounting, guest services, detailed package marketing and strategies as well as advanced guest history profiling for tracking guest loyalty programs.
