John Davis III (Pegasus)

AUSTIN, TX-May 16, 2001 - Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is proud to announce that chairman and chief executive officer for Pegasus Solutions, John F. Davis, III, has been selected as the 2001 HFTP International Technology Hall of Fame inductee. Davis was selected for his years of influence in the hospitality technology industry, during which he pioneered the development of connecting hotel companies' central reservation systems with the major airline global distribution systems (GDS) that travel agents use. Davis will be inducted into the HFTP International Technology Hall of Fame at this year's HITEC (Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference) — the world's largest hospitality technology conference. HITEC 2001 will be held June 26-28 at the Orange County Convention Center, in Orlando, Fla. He will be honored at the HITEC Award Ceremony at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26.

Since the inception of the HFTP International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame in 1989, 20 individuals have been recognized at HITEC for their contributions to the hospitality industry. The Technology Hall of Fame is the hospitality industry's highest level of recognition in the area of technology. Hall of Fame members have been selected by their peers as representing the best in innovation and application of technology and as leaders in their profession. To be eligible for selection to the Technology Hall of Fame, an individual must have made significant and lasting contributions to hospitality technology in any or all areas of development, application, and promotion.

Nominations were solicited in March from industry press, current Hall of Fame members, industry association executives, and HFTP leaders.

HITEC, produced by Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals®, is the largest and most comprehensive showcase of hospitality technology in the world. HITEC 2001 is expected to attract over 6,000 attendees. The exposition will host over 300 vendors in more than 760 booths, covering every facet of hospitality technology — from accounting software to central reservation systems to telecommunications.
