Marriott International’s world-class luxury hotel brand, JW Marriott, plans to open 10 properties in five countries in 2010, bringing the total global portfolio of the brand to 54 hotels and resorts and 24,000 rooms. This unprecedented growth represents an investment exceeding $2 billion by JW Marriott property owners and franchisees.

The 10 JW Marriott hotels and resorts opening in 2010 include:

  • China – Hangzhou
  • Colombia – Bogota
  • India – Bengeluru, Chandigarh, Chennai
  • Turkey – Ankara
  • The United States – San Antonio, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago

The JW Marriott brand is reserved for select luxury properties that offer the highest levels of comfort, technology, personal service, privacy and world-class amenities. Guests will experience a hotel where sophisticated and self-confident travelers can celebrate success on their terms.

An additional 20 JW Marriott hotels are also under construction or in development in 13 countries, including such diverse locations as The Maldives, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Puerto Rico and Indianapolis.

Asia-Pacific:

JW Marriott Hotel Hangzhou – Opening in June, this stylish 330-room hotel will be situated in the center of Hangzhou’s dynamic central business district. It will offer three stunning restaurants, an inviting lobby lounge and an entertainment bar. Its recreational amenities will include an indoor swimming pool, a luxurious spa and a state-of-the-art fitness center. For conferences and social events, the hotel will have 5,413 square feet of flexible function space in varying configurations.

JW Marriott Hotel Bengeluru -- Located close to Bengalore’s commercial center, deluxe residential neighborhoods and premier shopping and entertainment areas, this 250-room luxury hotel will open later this year. Its dining options will be a cornucopia of culinary delights peppered with three specialty restaurants, a brasserie, a pool bar, al fresco poolside dining and a 24-hour coffee shop. Recreational amenities will include a lively night club, an upscale spa, swimming pool and fitness center. Its 1,140-square meters of flexible function space will enhance its appeal for the city’s social and banquet events and business meetings.

JW Marriott Hotel Chandigarh -- Scheduled to open late this year, this 175-room property will be situated in the center of Chandigarh—a modern city bursting with gardens, lakes and parks, designed by famed urban planner Le Corbusier to be “a living organism.” The hotel will offer luxurious, though purposeful, services and amenities meant to help its guests accomplish their goals without distraction or disruption. Included will be a variety of restaurants, bars and lounges in which to linger or gather with friends and colleagues. Among recreational amenities will be a full-service spa, an outdoor swimming pool and a state of the art fitness center.

JW Marriott Hotel Chennai – This 371-room hotel opens later this year in the developing commercial area southwest of Chennai’s central business district. Providing its guests with sweeping, panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, the hotel will offer phenomenal food and beverage experiences conceived by world-renowned restaurant designers such as Super Potato, the largest conference facilities in Chennai and luxurious amenities and services in a style that is restrained and tasteful. Its recreational offerings will help foster a sense of personal well-being and its business services will focus on seamlessly assisting its guests.

Europe:

JW Marriott Hotel Ankara – Opening in November, this striking 24-story, 416-room luxury hotel is expected to quickly become a towering landmark along the gateway route into Ankara. Designed in a rich palate of colored glass, the tower will play with the sunlight by day and, by night, its lights will be a beacon signaling it’s the “place to be” in the city. The hotel will offer a range of authentic amenities, dining outlets and guest services reflective of the vibrancy of its unique locale.

South America:

JW Marriott Hotel Bogota – Scheduled to open in mid-July, this luxurious 264-room hotel will be located in the heart of the city’s financial district. For dining and entertainment, it will have three distinctive restaurants and cages with terrace seating, an inviting lounge and a rooftop bar and lounge. Recreational amenities will include a rooftop swimming pool and a state-of-the-art fitness center. For conferences and social events, the hotel will have 850 square meters of flexible function space.

The United States:

JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa – The 1,002-room resort debuted on Jan. 22 and is located 20 minutes from downtown San Antonio in the Texas Hill Country in Cibolo Canyons. It boasts authentic, hacienda-style architecture, 140,000-square feet of conference space, two Tournament Players Clubs golf courses, seven restaurants and a 27,000 square foot spa.

JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles at LA Live – This visually stunning 878- room luxury property opened Feb. 15 and is a focal point of downtown Los Angeles’ L..A. LIVE district. It offers a front row seat in the city’s exciting, new entertainment, sports and dining destination, which includes the STAPLES Center and the NOKIA Theatre. The hotel features over 100,000 square feet of the most flexible meeting space in the city and is directly adjacent to the Los Angeles Convention Center.

JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Miami – Sophistication, design, art, fashion and technology will combine to create this sleek, contemporary 313-room property opening in mid-July among the Miami River in downtown. It will offer a full-service spa, two levels of entertainment and dining experiences, a Jim McLean Golf School including instruction, golf simulators, putting greens and Pro Shop; state-of-the-art fitness center, virtual bowling and a billiard room, media room, a 10,000-square foot NBA-approved basketball court and more than 80,000 square feet of meeting space.

JW Marriott Hotel Chicago – This exquisite hotel is taking shape in the $396 million restoration of one of Chicago’s historic landmarks: the Continental & Commercial National Bank building designed by famed architect and city planner Daniel Burnham in 1914. When work is completed in early September, down Chicago will have a luxurious hotel with a distinctive pedigree and elegant décor worthy of its past. It will offer 610 tastefully appointed guest rooms, an on-site pampering spa, a fitness center, 43 meeting rooms and a choice of restaurants and lounges in which to enjoy unique dining experiences.
