Home Inns & Hotels – the largest Chinese hotel chain

The Chinese hotel market is still dominated by Chinese hotel chains – not US hotel groups are running the show on the highly competitive market in the Middle Kingdom. The largest hotel chain with 848 properties is the Shanghai based company Home Inns & Hotels Management. The ten largest hotel chains in China operate in total approximately 4,100 hotels. Although international hotel groups from North America and Europe announce new pipeline projects in China nearly on a daily basis, national Chinese hotel brands are primarily present on the market. Behind Hotel Inns in second place ranks the hotel chain Green Tree Hotels with 600 properties. Followed by the Lodging Group and their brand Hanting Inns & Hotels (580 hotels) in third place, 7 Days Inn with 658 hotels in fourth, Jinjiang Inns with in fifth (400 hotels) and Jinjiang Hotels in sixth place (346 hotels).

All in all there are 46 hotel chains with a total of more than 4,400 hotels present in China. Despite this large number it is still a developing and growing market place. In Europe TOPHOTELCHAINS counts 709 different hotel chains and groups with more than 12,000 properties. In the USA 330 hotel chains have 61,000 hotels under their umbrella.
