RIU Hotels & Resorts has opened its second hotel in Panama, which has involved a total investment of 100 million Dollars. The Riu Playa Blanca, located in Coclé province, joins the hotel Riu Plaza Panama which has recently celebrated its third birthday. With this project, RIU extends its hotel range and offers its guests the chance to enjoy a holiday in Panama that combines a city break with a relaxing stay on the beachfront with 24 hours All Inclusive service.

The new resort has 573 rooms with a contemporary design, dominated by white and red to create a welcoming, modern feel. Flat-screen television, electronic safe, liquor dispenser and fully stocked mini-bars are a selection of amenities included in RIU's All Inclusive programme. The hotel's different room types include spacious bedrooms and family suites, ideal for larger families.

The Riu Playa Blanca has four restaurants offering a complete gastronomic experience. The main restaurant, "Balboa", presents a full buffet of international cookery, with live cooking stations. For dinner, guests can choose from the Italian, "Il Palazzo", the Asian, "Xian", and the steakhouse "Chiriqu'". When it comes to relaxing, the new resort has five bars including the "Sports Bar", open 24 hours a day; there is also a nightclub, "Pacha", with entry and drinks forming part of RIU's All Inclusive programme.

The Riu Playa Blanca has a splendid garden and pool area of more than 28,000 square metres, and enjoys wonderful views thanks to the hotel's beachfront location. The hotel has three adult swimming pools, one with a pool bar, and a fourth for children with a slide and games.

The hotel's facilities and services also include the extensive daytime and evening entertainment programme, the RiuLand children's club, sporting activities with RiuFit, water sports, a gym, a 175-square-metre conference room, free Internet in the hotel lobby and a pay service in rooms.

Panama is a very varied and attractive tourist destination. Its geographical situation has made the country an air hub for the Americas and a meeting point for doing business. As well as its cosmopolitan city, it has extraordinary natural wealth and long, spectacular beaches. The Riu Playa Blanca is on Panama's west coast, known as "Arco Seco" ("Dry Arc") because of its excellent tropical climate, with pleasant temperatures, warm seas, long hours of sun and, as its name suggests, low rainfall. It is near the fishing town of Farallón, in Coclé province, just an hour and a half by car from Panama City and 5 kilometres from the new R'o Hato "Scarlett Mart'nez" airport.
