Miniature Egg™ Chair Exhibition at Newly Opened Radisson Blu Resort Hua Hin
Asia Pacific’s newest Radisson Blu resort in Hua Hin, Thailand, celebrates the iconic “Egg Chair” designed by Arne Jacobsen with the Miniature Egg™ Chair Exhibition
SINGAPORE AND HUA HIN, THAILAND -- Radisson Blu, one of the world's most prestigious brands in the hotel industry with nearly 300 hotels in 69 countries, confirms its flair for style and refined interior design, bringing to Asia Pacific's newest Radisson Blu resort in Hua Hin, Thailand, the Miniature Egg™ Chair Exhibition.
The exhibition, which will be showcased to the public at Radisson Blu Resort Hua Hin's lobby, from Friday, Nov 25 to Wednesday, Nov 30, 2016, is Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group Asia Pacific's venue of choice for the exhibition as Hua Hin grows its vibrant arts and culture scene.
The iconic "Egg Chair" was created by legendary Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen 55 years ago for the SAS Royal Hotel, Copenhagen. It was renamed to Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Copenhagen seven years ago and is known as the world's first designer hotel.
A global competition was held last October where Radisson Blu guests and design enthusiasts were invited to design their very own "Egg Chair" using an online chair configurator.
Combining personal creativity with Jacobsen's unmistakable sophisticated "shell" design and cosmopolitan allure, the initiative was a success with over 66,000 submissions. An authoritative international jury selected 15 finalists and miniature perfect scale reproductions of the "Egg Chairs" were created.
Susan Bannister from the United Kingdom scored the winning entry and her design, along with the competition's finalists, formed the traveling Miniature Egg™ Chair Exhibition that has been on display at selected Radisson Blu hotels globally:
- Las Vegas, USA
- Copenhagen, Denmark
- Milan, Italy
- Dublin, Ireland
- Helsinki, Finland
- Nantes, France
- Berlin, Germany
- Riga, Latvia
- Dubai, UAE
- Hua Hin, Thailand
- Zurich, Switzerland
- Edinburgh, Scotland
"We are very excited and privileged to host the iconic EggTM Chair exhibition at the same time as our Grand Opening," said Preet Inder Singh, general manager at Radisson Blu Resort Hua Hin. "Our resort reflects vibrant, contemporary design and sleek interiors, in line with the Radisson Blu brand and the Egg Chair's DNA."
