Warwick Paradise Island - Bahamas Hosts Grand Opening Celebration

The Board of Directors of Warwick Hotels and Resorts (WHR), led by President Richard Chiu, hosted an official grand opening celebration for Warwick Paradise Island - Bahamas with formal festivities on Friday, March 31, 2017. The event was attended by more than 300 guests including Bahamas government and parliament officials, society members, industry partners, local businesses and members of the media.
The evening commemorated the completion of a two-year, US$50 million transformation of Warwick Paradise Island - Bahamas into a four-star deluxe adults-only, all-inclusive resort. The resort had a soft opening on Oct. 28, 2016 and over the course of the subsequent five months key projects were finalized which culminated in the grand opening on March 31, 2017.
The evening's program was held on the 10,000 sq. ft. Warwick Sunset Terrace and began with a musical prelude by the Royal Bahamas Police Force. Mr. Chiu welcomed event attendees to Warwick Paradise Island - Bahamas and thanked Bahamas government officials for their support with the development of the resort. Mr. Chiu complimented the service levels provided by the resort's Bahamian staff, which is often cited in guest comments.
The Hon. Obediah Wilchcombe, Minister of Tourism of the Bahamas, delivered opening remarks and introduced The Rt. Hon. Perry G. Christie, Prime Minister of the Bahamas, who gave the keynote address.
In his address, Hon. Christie highlighted the successes of Mr. Chiu and the positive attributes of the Warwick Hotels and Resorts collection. He detailed the number of Bahamians employed by the resort and reiterated Mr. Chiu's sentiments regarding the resort's commitment to train employees to provide levels of service synonymous with the Warwick Hotels and Resorts brand.
Following the formal speeches, Prime Minister Christie and Ann Chiu, wife of Mr. Chiu, officially opened the resort with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Guests were treated to a Caribbean Tasting Reception highlighted by seafood dishes, sushi, various cuts of meats, side dishes, hors d' oeuvres, and desserts. Entertainment on the Warwick Sunset Terrace was provided by Ira Storr and the Spank Band, a Junkanoo Band, and Action Limbo King. The festivities continued in the resort's Junkanoo Beat entertainment room with dancing to live music by VIP Band.
