If airlines, trains, cruise ships, taxis, hotels and restaurants want to attract millions of people back as the COVID-19-related restrictions on Americans' mobility melt away, they're all going to have to clean up their acts.

Literally.

Public transportation, airports and bus and train terminal have never been known for their spic-n-span-liness. But now the job of keeping those spaces clean and those of us who use them healthy has become much tougher and immensely more imperative.

Recent research by SEMrush, a data and trends tracking company, showed that Google inquiries seeking to learn "Is it safe to fly" increased by 3,693% between February and March. Similarly, searches for "Are hotels safe?" rose 21,900%. Searches for "Is it safe to cruise jumped 190%, while searches for "Is traveling safe?" and "Are trains safe," increased 665% and 21%, respectively during that same period.
