Orlando, FL - UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management has once again ranked as one of the premiere hospitality and tourism programs in the world, as rated by the ShanghaiRankings listing of 500 of the world’s top universities. For the second year in a row, the ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2021 ranked Rosen College’s program No.1 in the nation and No. 2 in the world.

College leadership credits the top ranking to its collaborative, international research initiatives and its HOSPITALITY+ curriculum strategy to create opportunities in the entire hospitality spectrum ranging from hospitality management, foodservice and restaurant management, event management, entertainment management, senior living management, themes parks and attractions management, and travel technology and analytics. This strategy also provides interdisciplinary research opportunities for faculty and graduate students which enables them to conduct high quality research with experts from other disciplines throughout the world to solve some of the complex problems faced by industry and society.

“Our dedication to delivering impactful research that is published in the top academic journals worldwide and to educating the future leaders of the hospitality industry with a curriculum that evolves to meet the needs of the industry is demonstrated in this prestigious ranking,” says Youcheng Wang, dean of the UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management. “We are extremely proud of our 2021 ShanghaiRanking. Our college is among the best on a global stage and we will continue to provide stellar academics and research that will serve our stakeholders and industry partners now and into the future.”

ShanghaiRankings is a research-based ranking. UCF Rosen College is home to four highly cited SSCI research journals, International Journal of Hospitality Management (edited by Assistant Dean Manuel Rivera); International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management and the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Insights (both edited by Professor Fevzi Okumus); and the Journal of Destination Marketing & Management (edited by Associate Dean Alan Fyall and Dean Youcheng Wang). The college also houses the Rosen Research Review magazine (edited by Associate Dean Robertico Croes), which shares current research with industry partners in a format that is easily adaptable to the functions and practices of the hospitality and tourism industries.

The Chronicle of Higher Education says that the ShanghaiRanking is considered the most influential ranking among world-renowned universities. In April 2021, the college was recognized by CEOWorld magazine as a top five college for the study of hospitality and tourism for the fifth year in a row.
