Airbnb Named To Parity.org Best Companies For Women To Advance List 2021
We are proud to share that Airbnb has been named to the Parity.org Best Companies for Women to Advance List 2021. This list recognizes organizations that have implemented a mix of exemplary benefits, policies, and programs that ensure women have significant opportunities to advance their careers.
Companies on the list were rated in areas of equality in hiring and promotion practices, inclusion, representation of women in leadership, and enablers, such as benefits and other policies, that help companies achieve equitable outcomes.
“After a year that has erased all the gains women have made in the past several decades, there are still companies that are making progress to support women’s advancement at work–all the more reason to celebrate their successes. The companies that are on the 2021 list of Best Companies for Women to Advance are shining examples of companies that actually walk the talk and are helping create equal representation, now.” Cathrin Stickney, Parity.org founder and CEO
Airbnb promotes connection and belonging, and to achieve our mission, our company must reflect the diversity of our global community. We continue taking concrete steps to build a workplace where employees of all backgrounds and identities feel welcome, including working to promote gender equity. Some of the steps we can taken include:
- Setting long-term representation goals: we have committed that by the end of 2025, at every level, 50 percent of our global employees who identify in the gender binary will be women.
- Growing our inclusive hiring practices, including new training to help ensure hiring managers have tangible strategies to integrate diversity into hiring, and implementing diverse candidate slates in 2017
- Reinvigorating our mentorship and sponsorship programs to help grow and retain underrepresented talent.
- Prioritizing equal pay for equal work for all: we have conducted a pay equity analysis annually since 2015 to examine and adjust pay gaps.
- Offering 10 weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of phased return to work for families, which provides a four-day work week for full-time employees.
- Providing flexibility and benefits to help parents and caregivers navigate the challenges of COVID-19.
- Continuing to expand our definitions of diversity to help us better understand and support our employees. Recently, we began offering the opportunity for our US-based employees to identify as a parent or caregiver.
“Building an equitable workplace where our team members who identify as women are supported, able to thrive and advance, is an integral part of Airbnb’s work to create belonging. We are proud that Parity.org has recognized the actions we have taken so far, and we will continue to work hard in partnership with our employee resource groups and company leaders to continue this progress.” Dr. Melissa Thomas Hunt, Airbnb Global Head of Diversity and Belonging

About Airbnb.org
Airbnb.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating temporary stays for people in times of crisis around the world. Airbnb.org operates independently and leverages Airbnb, Inc.'s technology, services, and other resources at no charge to carry out Airbnb.org's charitable purpose. The inspiration for Airbnb.org began in 2012 with a single host named Shell who opened up her home to people impacted by Hurricane Sandy. This sparked a movement and marked the beginning of a program that allows hosts on Airbnb to provide stays for people in times of need. Since then, the program has evolved to focus on emergency response and to help provide stays to evacuees, relief workers, refugees, asylum seekers, and frontline workers fighting the spread of COVID-19. Since then, hosts have offered to open up their homes and helped provide accommodations to 100,000 people in times of need. Airbnb.org is a separate and independent entity from Airbnb, Inc. Airbnb, Inc. does not charge service fees for Airbnb.org supported stays on its platform.
