Hyatt Hotels Corporation has entered into an exclusive collaboration with family-run German hospitality firm Lindner Hotels AG. With this agreement, more than 30 hotels (around 5,500 rooms) will join the Hyatt portfolio, mostly under the boutique JdV by Hyatt brand, with the large majority being in Germany. The hotels are located across 15 markets in seven countries, including Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Cologne, Stuttgart, Hanover, Hamburg, Antwerp, Kiel, Leipzig, Sylt, Bratislava and Interlaken. Hyatt currently has an existing 1,150 hotels globally, including almost 130 hotels and 30,000 rooms in Europe. Although Lindner is not yet a participating member in Hyatt’s World of Hyatt loyalty program, the two firms are in the process of setting up access for Lindner’s hotels.

L&R Ventures acquires a significant stake in Whitbread

Brothers Richard and Ian Livingstone, behind investment firm London & Regional, have acquired a 3.5% stake worth £165 million in FTSE 100-listed hospitality group Whitbread. The billionaire siblings purchased their stake at the end of last month through their L&R Ventures Limited entity. The venture already owns hotel assets across the UK, continental Europe, the US and the Caribbean totalling approximately 23,300 rooms. Whitbread operates over 800 Premier Inn hotels in the UK and dozens in Germany.

BNP acquires Moxy and Residence Inn in Hamburg, Germany

French banking group BNP Paribas Reim has acquired the double-branded Moxy and Residence Inn by Marriott property in Hamburg, Germany, for an undisclosed sum, from German developer benchmark. REAL Estate GmbH. The 220-room Moxy hotel and 44-room Residence Inn apartment rooms are part of 10,000 sqm of usable space on the premises. Since the dual-branded property opened in August 2021, Odyssey Hotel Group has been the operator on a 25-year lease.
