DER Turistik acquires the Aldiana Club Ampflwang in Austria from LMEY and Club Hotels

Swiss investment companies LMEY Investments and Club Hotels Europe Management have sold the four-star, 200-room Aldiana Club Ampflwang resort in Austria to the property’s operator, German travel organisation DER Turistik. The resort is situated in northern Austria, near the Hausruck Forest, one hour’s drive north-east of Salzburg. The 45-hectare site includes a 500 sqm indoor play park, cycling and hiking trails, a horse riding facility and further sporting and wellness facilities. DER Turistik has been operating the resort under a lease through its subsidiary Aldiana Group, which it took over in 2022. Aldiana’s portfolio currently includes nine club resorts across Spain, Austria, Tunisia, Italy and Turkey. A tenth property is set to open in Egypt in 2024.

Meidall acquires Clarion Hotel Admiral in Bergen, Norway, from DNB Livsforsikring

Norwegian fish farming baron Gerhard Alsaker has acquired the four-star, 210-room Clarion Hotel Admiral in central Bergen, Norway, through his holding company Meidall, from Norwegian insurance firm DNB Livsforsikring. The 10,000 sqm hotel is leased to Clarion Hotel Admiral, an entity under Norwegian operator Strawberry Group, and contains a bar, restaurant and conferencing facilities, overlooking Bergen’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed waterfront dock site of Bryggen. Strawberry Group, the owner of Choice Hotels in the Nordics, is one of the largest hotel groups in the region, with 240 properties across Scandinavia, Finland and the Baltics.

Caledonian acquires the Claymore Hotel in Arrochar, Scotland, from Coast & Country

Leeds-based tour operator Caledonian Leisure has acquired the three-star, 96-room Claymore Hotel in the centre of Arrochar, Scotland, from Coast & Country Hotels. This acquisition marks the latest property from the Coast & Country Hotels portfolio to be sold. The historic Claymore Hotel includes two restaurants and a bar and is situated on the banks of Loch Long, around an hour’s drive north-west of Glasgow. The hotel is set to be renamed the Caledonian Claymore Hotel and the current general manager and his team will be maintained as part of the takeover. Caledonian Leisure is active under its brands Caledonian Travel and UKBreakaways.

Trip Inn acquires the Landhotel Betz in Bad Soden, Germany, from the Betz sisters

Frankfurt-based group Trip Inn Hotels has acquired the three-star, 66-room Landhotel Betz in the spa town of Bad Soden, Germany, approximately 60 kms east of Frankfurt, from the Betz sisters, Marion, Bettina and Claudia. Marion and Bettina are the current managing directors of the hotel. The property is the largest accommodation facility in the region, primarily focusing on conference and group bookings. The name of the hotel will change to Trip Inn Landhotel. Tripp Inn Hotels currently operates a portfolio of 35 hotels across Germany in different segments.

Zaman Family acquires the Heritage Park Hotel in Pontypridd, Wales

The Zaman Family has acquired the three-star, 43-room Heritage Park Hotel in the Southern Welsh town of Pontypridd in the UK. Situated near the historical old mining site of Lewis Merthyr Colliery in the Rhondda Valleys, the scenic property will be managed by Manchester-based Brilliant Hotels. Other hotels in the group’s portfolio are located across the UK in Manchester, Cheltenham, Sheffield, Rochdale, Chorley and Crewe. Built in the 1990s, the Heritage Park Hotel is a popular conferencing and wedding venue. The property is currently undergoing a refurbishment programme, having received around £1 million in renovation works in 2019.
