The Neighborhood Hotel Little Italy is in the running to win USA Today’s Best New Hotel award -- the selection is a true honor for the hotel chain’s fourth location
The Neighborhood Hotel Little Italy is the result of a full-scope reno of the former National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame building. Thirty-five suites (studio, one and two bedrooms) offer full kitchens and a mid-century Italian meets sleek urban loft vibe.
Chicago, Ill - The Neighborhood Hotel Little Italy is proud of its nomination for USA Today’s Best New Hotel award [vote here]! USA Today’s panel of travel experts nominated their favorite hotel openings of the last year which features an impressive lineup of hotels nationwide. This is a cool moment for the hotel and the Little Italy neighborhood! We came across some old posters from Mayor Daley’s campaign in the 1960s during construction. The messages focused on Chicago pride, honing in on what’s good for Chicago. Our hotels bring goodness to our city as we’re dedicated to the people and communities — each unique neighborhood gives our hotels a pulse and an energy that’s special,
says Jonathan Gordon, Founder and CEO of The Neighborhood Hotel.
The Neighborhood Hotel is equipped with the amenities of a hotel with the warmth and convenience of one’s home. The Little Italy location offers accommodations for 138 guests (42 bedrooms) across 35 suites [studio, one and two bedrooms]. Depending on the layout, a suite can hold two to six people between beds and sleeper sofas. Each space is outfitted with thoughtful amenities, stocked kitchens [some with ovens and ranges], and a well-curated selection of art and accessories, including Sferra linens, Malin + Goetz bath products, Metric Coffee w/Moccamaster Brewers, yoga mats, and more.
Rebel House Design channeled a fresh, modern concept with hints of mid-century Italian influence. Pops of color compliment soaring ceilings while terrazzo floors and elegant plaster accents round out the unique details. The Neighborhood brand is built on connecting travelers with the communities they’re staying in,
says Marli Jones, Owner of Rebel House Design. For inspiration, our team turned to the history of the culturally vibrant area and the rich tradition of Italian design. Sleek lines, simple geometries and a joyful color palette honor the remarkable impact Italian designers made throughout the 20th century while creating a vibe that’s fresh and compelling for today's guests,
Jones adds. The top floor’s outdoor terraces add to the dynamic energy with captivating views of the city - a reminder that you’re away from it all yet proximate to everything.
We knew that this building [the former National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame] was ideal for our fourth location because it’s an interesting, historic space in a prime location. Little Italy is home to everything that gives the city soul— incredible people, restaurants, and culture — all near the Illinois Medical District,
Situated within a half mile from UI Health and Rush Hospitals, The Neighborhood Hotel Little Italy fills a hole in the world of accommodations. Doctors, nurses, patients and their families need a place to stay that’s super close to the hospital(s) but also a space that feels good. Our hotel is clean and comforting, filled with thoughtful details,
says Gordon. Some of those touches include: a partnership with Baby’s Away to deliver and assemble any baby gear that’s needed and cozy throw blankets made by The Weaving Mill [a local company that also supports Envision Unlimited — a nonprofit that helps adults with developmental disabilities]. Unique details are also reflected in the Gibsons seasoning salt in every pantry, a guide to the neighborhood with tips from long-time locals on each coffee table, and even bocce balls to use on the courts next door. We realize that many of our guests are staying purely for fun but some are here for work or medical travel. We want to support everyone which is why we double down on the things that might seem small,
Gordon says.
Voting closes on December 25th, 2023. The Neighborhood Hotel team encourages you to vote early and often, its the Chicago way.
