Scorpios

Scorpios enters a new global chapter, taking inspirational gatherings from Mykonos to Türkiye, Mexico, and beyond.

London, United Kingdom - Scorpios is expanding globally with a bold new vision, establishing two remarkable locations in addition to its flagship base in Mykonos. In June 2024, Scorpios will launch new gathering places in Bodrum (Türkiye), later followed by Tulum (Mexico), with more locations to follow in the future. Each new place will resonate with the cultural energy of its region, interwoven with the Scorpios alchemy of music, art, food, and wellbeing, envisioned through the creative lens of their inspired community of artists and makers.

Founded by Thomas Heyne and Mario Hertel in 2015, Scorpios emerged as a contemporary interpretation of the ancient Greek agora — a gathering place for artists, free spirits, and change-makers to connect, collaborate, and celebrate under the open sky. A vibrant community grew around this genre-defying alternative to mainstream entertainment, attracted by the distinctive music program that Scorpios enlivened by bringing in mindfulness, fashion, craft, and visual art.

Now, for the first time, the Mykonos-born brand invites its community to venture beyond Greek shores, to a new constellation of gathering places in sublime natural surroundings.

A New Era for Scorpios

Scorpios has always created inspirational experiences through rituals that unite human connection with art, music, and nature. In these deep moments of togetherness, we lift each other's spirits. Inspired by the original trailblazing spirit that drove the brand in the early days, Scorpios is entering a new era. The global expansion is paving the way to deepen the Scorpios experience, from exclusive accommodation for luxuriant retreat, to a unique wellbeing program called Inner Gardens. Wellbeing at Scorpios places creativity, art, and music at its core, signified by the brand’s landmark Ritual Space. This is a multidisciplinary home for ancient healing methods and modern knowledge, as well as immersive cultural practices including art exhibitions, music and dance performances, talks, sensory rituals, and more.

Scorpios will also elevate the innovative electronic music that has become synonymous with the brand by renewing its focus on championing an experimental sound, with emerging talents coming together with some of the world’s most established names. For example, the most recent season in Mykonos saw leading musicians and DJs perform — including the likes of Keinemusik, Sébastien Leger and Bedouin. The brand will continue to grow its own successful record label, Scorpios Music, with monthly label showcases, an artist booking agency and new artistic collaborations and residencies coming up in the future.

Collaborating with the world’s brightest creatives across music, wellbeing, and hospitality, Heyne and Hertel are also intensifying Scorpios’ exploration of the arts with Encounters — the brand’s annual festival for creative experimentation. The inaugural 2023 edition brought leading contemporary artists including Refik Anadol to Mykonos, with unprecedented co-creation between digital art, music, AI and indigenous communities. Scorpios will take this concept forward to new creative heights and locations in 2024.

Scorpios will launch their journey of expansion by opening in Bodrum in June 2024. On a lush, 75-thousand square meter exclusive peninsula, the strikingly-designed location will house two restaurants, a club house, Scorpios’ signature beach club, and several brand firsts — a Ritual Space, as well as 12 private suites, each with their own outdoor pool and lounge area. This marks Scorpios’ first venture into accommodation and 24/7 high-end hospitality. Scorpios Bodrum will feature a wealth of cultural programming and a revolving artist residency in collaboration with the brand’s music label, Scorpios Music.

Scorpios Bodrum’s contemporary Ritual Space allows guests to realign and rebalance through a lens of culture and art, with the Inner Gardens program bringing in practices like mindful movement, ice plunges, a herbal & adaptogens bar, breathwork, and sound meditation.

A relaxed, communal culture of sharing and togetherness lies at the heart of dining in Bodrum. The menu is aligned with the original Scorpios food concept, braiding in inspiration from the Eastern Mediterranean with local Turkish influences.

Scorpios Bodrum will also be bookable for elevated private gatherings that combine the Scorpios aesthetic with the vision of its guests.

Scorpios’ Design Ethos of Effortless Ease

The design of each Scorpios property celebrates traditional craftsmanship and fosters an environment of effortless ease, infused with influences from the local culture and landscape. In Bodrum, Scorpios is co-created by architecture studio Geomim, with interiors by Lambs and Lions, in collaboration with Annabell Kutucu and Studio McBride. The design ethos honors imperfect simplicity and the honesty of natural materials.

A Global Constellation of Gathering Places

Bookings for Scorpios Bodrum will be live from mid December 2023 onwards, and the property opens in June 2024. Tulum will be opening soon, and more details on the other Scorpios locations will follow.

About Scorpios

Scorpios emerged as an inspirational creative gathering place on a sun-drenched peninsula of Mykonos in 2015, founded by Thomas Heyne and Mario Hertel. The duo spent the last 20 years creating exceptional experiences in Mykonos, from the legendary Paradise Club to San Giorgio Hotel (now Soho Roc House). Scorpios went on to set the standard for a new kind of beach experience infused with a creative ethos that nurtures community and collaboration — an alternative to mainstream entertainment which ushered in a cultural shift from all-night entertainment to all-day ease. Scorpios has become the cultural home for free spirits, artists, and changemakers to celebrate, collaborate, and recalibrate to the cadence of nature and the beat of our times.

About Encounters

Scorpios’ new annual cultural festival launched in Mykonos in 2023 with a summer art program (13 July – 3 September). The inaugural edition of Encounters, titled In Resonance, brought together notable contemporary artists and musicians to engage with the public around digital art. The first edition successfully launched six art projects, headlined by leading digital media artist Refik Anadol and the Yawanawá communities of Aldeia Sagrada and Nova Esperança, indigenous to Brazil’s Amazon rainforest. Highlights include a series of art installations, live performances, and unique art and music collaborations, as well as exclusive opportunities to collect digital artwork. The summer-long exploratory program arose out of curiosity about the creative interplay between contemporary art and music. Just as the brand has long championed new and emerging musicians at its vibrant agora on Mykonos with the evolution of the Scorpios sound, they are now exploring contemporary art. Scorpios continues to embrace a spirit of collaboration between artists and audiences, giving them an arena in which to experiment and chart new creative territory.
